2 weeks post op.....are you feeling the same?
I had my TAH two weeks ago tomorrow. Twice this week, Sunday and Today I have tried getting out and driving a short distance. I live in a very small town and thought that I could go out to the PO and the grocery store. I should have turned back after the PO...it wore me out....but I continued to the grocery store. I could barely walk, could hardly push an empty basket. I managed to get a few things, minus milk...and made it home. It felt like something was trying to push its way out of my vagina....
I ended up taking a very sound nap when I got home. I felt sick to my stomach and thought I was going to pass out while shopping.
Am I asking too much of my body??? This sitting home stuff is getting old....Elastic pants are getting on my nerves....I feel lazy!!!
I spoke w/ my Doc's nurse, she said that when you have that heavy, feeling down there, its my bodies way of saying that I have had enough for the day...
However, she said that I could have started driving three days out of the hospital??? I cant do it at two weeks...I can only imagine 3 days!! LOL
Anyone else still worn out??? I also told the Nurse to tell my Doctor to NEVER tell another PT that a TAH is like a csection....it was the biggest lie I had ever heard!!!
Take care all!
Oh...and I am on Vivelle 0.1 Patch...I love it, I feel great on it!!

Wow. I can't believe you are able to drive. I have thought about it but I can't even get into the car w/out pain. I have to agree about the lying and saying it is like c-section. NOT. They cut you way more. After my c-sections I was up in 2 wks not w/this.

A lot of doctors say even more than two weeks for driving. At two weeks to run two errands and also driving yourself -- well, your nurse said it, you can feel when you're overdoing. It sounds like you are right on schedule; like you I get bored easily and don't like being inactive, but I overdid it and believe me it's not worth the price you pay. Hang in there kiddo.

I am 5 weeks post op and bored outta my tree but I don't think I would attempt going any place on my own right now and I am healing pretty good. Sounds like your body is telling you NO!
I would slow down if I were you.

Re: 2 weeks post op.....are you feeling the same?
Yes, I am also beat by 6pm...actually 4pm is when I start feeling it! My husband was only home for about the first 9 days after my surgery. Then it was time to get back on the road. I dont have any help besides my 9 yr old son...and I dont try to put too much on him. My family lives up north, my inlaws live close but havent offered any help at all. I take that back, my father in law took time off if I needed to go to the docs...but thats it. They are divorced. My Mother in law told me she wished she had time, but was too busy to help w/ anything. Leaves me at home doing it all....and not getting much done!!!
Thanks everyone!

Re: 2 weeks post op.....are you feeling the same?
I feel the same way!! I thought after 2 weeks I would be feeling pretty good and started to do little things around the house nothing big but oh boy did I pay for it. I was in so much pain I was crying and the next day all I did was lay in bed and rest (even took a three hour nap) and was much better. I think we are all so used to go, go, go and getting everything done it is hard to sit and rest. Well I have learned my lesson and the phrase "pamper the princess" has new meaning!! TRY to take it easy. Most things around the house can wait. I know I need to ask for help more and I found that my family will help they just need to be asked.

I was not allowed to drive for 2 weeks. It sounds like you just pushed too far for what you are able to do. I would take it easy. You do not want to do any damage. I hope you feel better soon.

Re: 2 weeks post op.....are you feeling the same?
i haven't had the pressure down under from driving too much, but my incisions start to get a throbbing feeling when i am doing too much... i have been driving myself for about 2 weeks now (since day 15 post op) bc i had no other option.... as for the csection part..i had a TLH, but had 2 csections and the procedure they used was nothing like the csections either.... this has knocked me off my feet like i never imagined....
the tiredness hits me at different times now bc i have had to adjust my sleep schedule with DH's work, but usually slow down around 6 or so and by 9 i am half asleep on the couch.... if im not passed out already...lol
listen to your body and to your Dr.... hope you are feeling better.

Re: 2 weeks post op.....are you feeling the same?
I am 2 weeks post op and am quite frustrated with how I feel. I have begun to do some work around the house (organize my pantry) but "cash out" before the job is done. My fatigue is overwhelming. I have drove short distances and if felt pretty good. However, I am tired of wearing baggy pants and feeling like a sloth. I am so worried I am going to gain weight. I just lost significant weight before my surgery. Darn.
