Gee, So Much Waiting, Then... Wow!

I love this website. I've enjoyed the various posts over the months, while I fought with my HMO to even be seen. They were scheduling appointments with three months worth of space in between them!

Well, anyway, I kept bugging my doctor, and he saw me today instead of October 15th, my next scheduled appointment. To my surprise, he scheduled the surgery today, and it's for Oct 2nd! After waiting so long, I almost choked at merely two weeks left. Then, let's be honest, I became scared. I'm a wuss when it comes to pain.

I keep thinking, though, that things will be so much better after it is over, and I won't have all these horrible symptoms to deal with anymore. But, gee wiz, what do you all do about the nervousness?

I'm with you on the SCARED front! My date is Oct. 1. I've had a week of no-spotting, no-bleeding, and I was beginning wonder if I had made the right decision to have the surgery. Well, like I said, I had ONE week out of this month. The cramps came back today, and so did the spotting. My hesitation yesterday, has turned into ansiousness (spelling?) today. I've been real good at dealing with pain, but the "having to have someone take care of me" thing is not what I'm looking forward to. This is a wonderful site, and it's nice to know we all have so much support and so much in common. I know I can turn to these women when I need to.

Take care.

Phoenix and Smitty: I was a basket case when I first scheduled my hyst. It had taken 2 years for me to finally go ahead with the hyst and scheduling it made it oh so real!!!

Hang in there, your wait is almost over. Before you know it, you'll be crowned 's, well on your way to recovery. We'll be right here with you, every step of the way.

Best of luck to you. I am 10 days post-op, and felt so good the week prior to surgery I came close to cancelling. I'm so glad that I didn't now, because they found a leiomyoma in my upper left abdominal wall and removed it along with everything else. It came back precancerous, so I'm really glad I had the surgery. It might never have presented any symptoms until it was too late, so I feel like I've dodged a bullet. Also, I'm feeling really good, and am headache free for the first time in a long time!

You'll do just fine, and let us all know how things go.

Gee, So Much Waiting, Then... Wow!

Hi~ I know how you feel. Dr scheduled me for Oct 1st and it finally sunk in!
2 weeks and I thought I had everything ready! The food is all gone [thanks to my family!] that I had prepared in the freezer for recovery. So I guess they will have to cook now! I am going to stalk up on some soup and fruit for me. I think I can handle that for awhile. And if all else fails, as silly as it sounds, I have a stash of baby food for emergancies! Rather have that than hospital food! When my DH went into the same hospital, I actually bought it for him, cuz they said soft foods only, and after a little seasoning ...he loved it! And the soft foods they tried to feed him were horrible!
I don't know what is worse, the fear or the brain fog from too much thinking and crazy hormones!
Try not to dwell on it. Get busy and think about how good you are going to feel when it is over! Only thing that is working for me. That and I try to light candles and pray for all my sisters here on their days in the castle. Every little thing helps. We are almost there!
Love and hugs.......

Oct 2nd Sister

I also am going to the castle Oct. 2nd. And I'am just today starting to get ready. As my daugther had surgey and I have been taking care of her. I told her you were going to take care of me. Now I'am taking care of you. But at least I got to meet alot of the staff at the hospital, see the holding room where the get you ready for surgey and the recovery room. I told them I see them in a few weeks. I have had 4 years of pain, bleeding, pre cancers cells. Put this off 2 years ago because I was so scared.
But with cysts the size of golf balls. and more pain its time now and I'am looking forward to it now. But only with the help of this site have I been able to really understand what I would be going though. And knowing all of you are out there to support me makes it so much easier, as I did'nt know anyone who had been
though this. But alot of my questions and fears of the unknow have been answered.

Thank you all for being here.

And I hope to hear from other Oct 2nd Sisters.

Frances, we are practically neighbors...I'm in Rancho Cucamonga. I'm 11 weeks post (had my surgery at San Antonio Hospital in Upland) and I'm doing GREAT! I haven't felt this good for such a long time. I still have a ways to go before I'm completely back to "normal" but I really do feel terrific. I know you all probably get tired of hearing this, but it's soooo true that waiting is the worst part!

I'm sorry we didn't meet sooner...we just had our first monthly luncheon on 9/8 for our So Cal Sisters in Ontario! You can check out the pics by clicking here https://hystersisters.com/graphics/socal01.htm Maybe you can join us at one of our future get togethers. I sent you an email as well, in case you're interested.

Seesters, please come and join us in the chat room, too, if you haven't already. If you're having trouble finding us, Sheri posted a great thread today about exactly how to do it! If you think you can figure it out on your own, you can click on my link to the chatroom below. Hope to chat with you all soon!!
