Smile - Birthday Contest August 2010 - What do you love about HysterSisters? Re: Birthday Contest August 2010 - What do you love about HysterSisters?

Happy 12th Birthday HysterSisters,

There is a lot I love about you. I was going through a rough time with my body and was told I need a full hysterectomy. My Dr. gave me some medical information, but I still had unanswered questions.

I found YOU! and felt like I was family right away. The very first page listed popular question and answers for pre-ops in different caterogies. So wonderful!

When I registered on the Hystersister's website, I put in my surgery date. HysterSister provided me with a curtesy update of what I should do to prepare myself for surgery. In addition, what what my body would go through every month after survery. I really needed that.

What a minute; that's not it. I have a new family of cyber friends. through the communty post. You can receive advise on a personal level from women who has gone through the same process as you have. And, I can do the same thing.

I am 10 months post-op and haven't seen the doctor for 7 months. I don't need to see her because I have this forum.

I feel like a Queen. Thanks HysterSister

Re: Birthday Contest August 2010 - What do you love about HysterSisters?

I love all the information on this site. I have done many searches to find older posts to help answer one of my current questions. Also, no matter what is going on with me there is someone out there (usually many someones) who have experienced it before and are willing to share. It gives me the opportunity to do the same for a newcomer.

Thank you for helping me. When I had to decide whether to keep my ovaries at 58 years old after menopause, I was in a quandary. Reading these forums helped me make the decision. I kept them. They were not diseased so why give up a healthy organ. It is now 3 years later and I am still happy with the decision. The nursing staff in my OB/GYN office thought I was nuts but my doctor respected my choice. This forum helped me. So I say a heartfelt thank you.

Wink - Birthday Contest August 2010 - What do you love about HysterSisters? Re: Birthday Contest August 2010 - What do you love about HysterSisters?

Well I discovered HysterSisters in August 2003 a few days before I had my procedure, what a relief that was. I was not scared per se, but there's something about not ever having children (not that I wanted to have any, I had a tubal ligation) but this procedure is so final and it meant that one part of me would be forever gone. Well this website and all the wonderful women who sent me well wishes made me feel whole again. I knew at that point I was not in it alone, what I was feeling was ok and my hystersisters were there with me. Thank you HysterSister. HAPPY 12TH BIRTHDAY.

Re: Birthday Contest August 2010 - What do you love about HysterSisters?

What I love about Hyster Sisters is that the woman on these boards just about saved my sanity at a time when I felt like I was drowning deeper and deeper into such an unspeakable sorrow. Out of desperation I just kept randomly posting what I was going through and their advice, support, experience, and education has put me in a much better place emotionally and mentally.

Even with having the best life-long friend a girl could ever have and a wonderfully supportive boyfriend couldn't hold a candle to the women on this site. Nobody will ever understand what I am going through other than the people on this site. My friend and boyfriend try so very hard but I can't expect them to truly understand what I am dealing with.

To break it down, what I loved the most is what I have learned. I know now that if I do go through this total hysterectomy, that I have exhausted every option and opinion and there will be no regrets. If I didn't find this site, I think I would have plunged right into what the 1st surgeon suggested without getting all the information first. That is what this site did for me, it taught me that I should seek out a specialist first for my condition (endometriosis, along with fibroids). I truly do not know what life would have been like if I just went ahead first into the surgery without first seeing what else might be out there. I may still have to have surgery, I may even have to have a total hysterectomy still, but I will never have to look back and say I wish I did things differently.

Re: Birthday Contest August 2010 - What do you love about HysterSisters?

What I love about Hyster Sisters is that even though we have many different backgrounds we are all united throught this website. It has been so nice to log on and feel the sisterhood. During my recovery my mom wasn't around so I felt like I had some support. I hope that I can help support and be a shoulder to cry on if needed. Thank you Hyster Sisters!! Happy Birthday!!!

What I love about HysterSisters is that this is a site where I can get great information from women who have been through the same thing that I am going through. It really helps! Thanks to everyone! You will never know how much you have done for me.

Smile - Birthday Contest August 2010 - What do you love about HysterSisters? Re: Birthday Contest August 2010 - What do you love about HysterSisters?

Lots of love to HysterSisters on their 12th birthday. This site has enabled me to find others who are experiencing the symptoms I am. It is a blessed reassurance that what I am going through is normal. I am sure if my doctor knew I was a member here he would be thrilled, otherwise I would be calling him all the time with questions. I am so thankful for the nurse that recommended this site. Lots of info, lots of family, and lots of love. This is Hystersisters!

Thanks so much,
Kelly

I found your site by accident. Was up one night after my surgery in Sept 2008, and was surffing the web for info about what I was going thru post op. Finding your site was the best accident ever!! Thank you for being there for me when I needed a friend.

Re: Birthday Contest August 2010 - What do you love about HysterSisters?

I found your site when researching questions about my complete hysterectomy. HysterSisters just kept popping up! I love to "dig around" and find answers to my questions, as it seems someone somewhere has had the same issue. It gives me much peace of mind. I since have referred this site to several others who have also just had surgery. I hope it helps them as much as it has helped me. Happy 12th birthday!
