Two Days Post-op hysterectomy, hot flashes?!

Hi! I had my TAH on the 17. He removed a lot scar tissue and had to rearrange my bladder and ovaries. He says it was so bad in there and he may have to take them out in the future. My uterus was also huge, filled with fibroids. Anyway, two questions:
1) is it normal to have hot flashes this soon?
2) why do I have pain that feels like contractions? I wasn't expecting this, as I have no uterus?!

TIA!!

Re: Two Days Post-op hysterectomy, hot flashes?!

It's common to have crampy, achy pain as we heal. I'm not sure why it feels like contractions but maybe that has something to do with all the extra work you had done inside you. It should ease with time. Are you still having hot flashes? It sounds like you kept your ovaries. Sometimes they don't function very well immediately after surgery and we may have hormonal symptoms. Definitely let your doctor know if your hot flashes continue or if the contractions don't ease.
