Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Jan 30-Feb 05,2012

If your hysterectomy was between Jan 30-Feb 05,2012 this is the place to post your progress during your hysterectomy recovery.

If you have a question about your recovery, please start a new thread to receive answers and support for your concerns instead of including the question in your update! There is information on how to start a new thread in this link: New Here? or you can use this link: Post a New Topic in the Post-Op forum.

Post how you are doing here when you are home and well enough to sit a few minutes at your computer.

We hope you are recovering well with plenty of rest and water and a bit of walking. Don't forget to pamper the princess!

How to use the Recovery Progress Reports thread:

  • 1. This thread is for the purpose of sharing updates on your recovery as you heal from your hysterectomy.

  • 2. Generally, ONE or TWO posts on this thread per member/per day is adequate to share your daily progress and to share encouragement with your surgery week Sisters.

  • 3. Remember to start a new thread on the Post-Op message board to ask your questions.

  • 4. The Progress Report threads will be moved at approximately 8 weeks post-op to the Date Club forum inside the HysterSisters clubhouse.

  • 5. Remember all the love and support you got here as a pre-op member? Now it's YOUR turn to give back to the women in the Pre-Op Hysterectomy Support forum. Extend your hand and your hugs in replies to our pre-op ladies in waiting. This will complete our circle of women helping women!

  • 6. You can also share support and experiences with post-op members in all phases of recovery in the Post-Op Hysterectomy Support forum by replying on the new threads they create.

I'm safely on the other side. Surgery went well really well. Pain killers are keeping me asleep and the pain is vicious. Not as bad as I thought it would be. Hugs to my hyster sisters

Things are so well! It took about two hours in surgery, i remember most of recovery. They controlled my pain real fast. Once did it get bad again, but thats cause they thought i might be having a allergic reaction. But then quickly back under control. Cathider out, been moving. Yet to pee though on my own. Pain a 2 at most and last IV pain meds was like 4pm! Gas is good! Seriously it went great!!

Home from surgery! Everything is going well. I only had a hard time pee'ing. They took the cath out 12 hours after surgery, and almost had to cath me again, since i had not pee'd for twelve hours after they took the cath out. I asked the nurse to give me 20 more mins to try and was finally able too. Resting comfortably at home. In my flower shop. Hee hee, so many arrangements from friends! I already feel better than i did pre op!! Gotta remind myself i had major surgery and rest! Feel like i could go back to work tomorrow!

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Jan 30-Feb 05,2012

Had my TVH yesterday and decided on the spnal. It was a perfect choice for me as I didn't feel nauseous until I asked for strongers meds. They gave me morphine and nausea set in, so 4 hrs later they put anti naseousia stuff in with the next shot. By last night around midnight I was good enough to just take Motrin, and that's it. So the pain is less than I was expecting. The worst part was getting the packing out. So I'm so happy to be on the other side and feeling pretty good. Thanks for all your support.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Jan 30-Feb 05,2012

Hello Hyster Sisters!

I thought of you all yesterday. My surgery took about an hour. 1% chance of cancer, will know in a week, but everyone is very confident.

After catheter was removed, I peed two drops, then walked two laps around the hospital floor and came back and peed 6 oz. Later, 10 oz and after another walk, 16 oz. my bowel is very quiet, so I am eating very little.

No gas pains yet, but definitely pain in the surgical arena. No incision pain yet. Off of PCA (or PAC) and on percoset for now . Overall, feeling good. I am exhausted--was so excited by "no cancer" comments that I could not sleep last night!

I have a dark circle under one eye. Odd.

Took arnica for three days prior to surgery, and resumed today. Will start acupuncture This coming Saturday. Ate very little on each of the two days prior to surgery.

Hope to hear from the other sisters. .
