Well it's official - I'm a lady in waiting

I just left my annual exam appointment, armed with a brochure "Understanding Hysterectomy" and the card for a woman named Claire, who is the surgery coordinator. If I don't get a call within a week, I'm supposed to call her to get on the schedule.

It's one of those "mixed blessings", I suppose. There really is no reason to be in pain every month, nor should the world stop, just because I am having my period - so for that I am glad. But I'm a little scared too, after all, it is major surgery.

The good news is that I've really prepared myself emotionally - so when I went to the dr. today, I was not shocked and I didn't cry. She said that my uterus is small so I will be having a TVH (taking the cervix, leaving my ovaries)...

Wish me luck as I wait for that phone call!

I'll be checking in on this site much more - thank you all for sharing your stories, it helps to know what I might expect.

Hi Cyndi!!

I hope that the call comes in soon

You sure do sound prepared! Good for you! Information is a good thing Being a bit scared is normal Sweetie. You are correct, this is a major surgery.

But as you said..no reason to live in pain just because of your period. Life is too short for that

So glad you found this site and hope to see in you chat too!

Hugs and blessings,

Laurie

I am in the same boat!

Cyndi,
I feel the same way you do...mixed feelings. My surgery is in 2 weeks, and I am already nervous, but also anzious to get it over with! HAHAHA! What a mess I am. Anyway, I recommend you read everything on this site (on the home page, the pull down windows). It really helped answer all my questions. Also, post your thoughts, concerns or questions on here. You should get lots of support.
welcome aboard the hyster ship,

Tammy

Hey girl.....welcome to the world of hyster sisters

So glad you have a positive outlook and I am sure you will do well. I had my surgery three weeks ago and I am doing great. Its scary before hand because of the unknown. But that is the absolute worst of it. I mean even the little pain is better than the anxiety. Keep up the great attitude and read all the info here. You are in great company

God Bless
Cindy
