2 wks post-op and doing ok..

Hi everyone....thanks for the encouragement before my surgery (TAH/BSO on 9-16-02) -- I made it thru and so far so has my family. Things are somewhat tense at home at times, but I think we are all doing well. I am still in alot of pain most of the time, think I have a bladder infection, but I am not sure. I am off of all the prescription pain killers and just taking the over the counter ones, but they are not helping much. Cannot sleep thru the night between the pain of moving in my sleep and the gas pains that wake me up constantly. Any tips? I tried Tylenol PM -- but I still woke up....I havent been napping hardly at all during the day, so I dont think its from that. Other than that I am surviving, today is my first day on the computer, I really missed it alot, I love my pc!
But its been a few minutes and I am getting really sore, so I gotta go.
to all!

Hi Missy, If you think you still have the bladder infection and are out of RX's, please give your doctor a call today. Try to get something called in. Don't let an infection go. Please call right now. Let us know if you were able to get something called in. Otherwise, I think the sleep issue is something we all struggle with right at first. I found that that after about 4 weeks that Tylenol PM (only 1, 2 keep me awake for some reason) would let me rest. But I mostly struggled at 2 weeks post op. I'd just nap when I could.
Take care!

Hi
I had trouble sleeping in my bed for 2 weeks. I was able to get some sleep on the sofa. It is fairly firm and you can use the back to support your body. You can elevate your head a bit with a pillow against the arm. Try a pillow under your knees so you are not laying flat. It takes some experimenting to figure it out. I have only been comfortable for the past week in the bed. It does not hurt anymore to lay on my side. I hope I have helped.

Good luck!
