shortness of breath

I can't speak for the other hystersister who is having a hard time breathing, but I guess I have more discomfort when I take a deep breath. I have laughed and coughed at times. It just feels congested in my chest. That is really the sensation. I can take a full breath I just noticed that it is tender from my pelvis to my chest. But I think I am going to call my doctor just to be sure so thank you for the heads up.

I don't have any pain at all when I take a long deep breath but like Kettlecorn..it feels a bit congested. There is no pain in either legs but i do have the feeling that I need to cough.., not hard but just like there's a little spot that needs to be cleared out or something. Thank you all for your advice. Wish it wasn't Sunday tomorrow but I will keep an eye on things and if no improvement.., I will call the hospital ER. Thanks again. Good luck kettlecorn. Please let me know what your doctor says if you get a hold of yours. I'm a little nervous now that I've read some of the comments.

I too had shortness of breath and that feeling when you swallow chlorine at least that is what I call it. This lasted about 8 days and got better and better each day. I was in the hospital for 5 days and you know they give you that breathing devise after any surgery so I just kept doing it ( I still can't get it all the way up I asked the doctor about this and he said it is from anesthesia and breathing tubes. I at first started to panic but after reading post on here and talking to the doctor I calmed down and it did go away. Of course breathing difficulties are serious and you need to go with your gut instinct. Call the doctor they will tell you what to do and that might help you feel better.

Please at least call your doctors! I was one of the unlucky ones at 7 days post op that ended up in ICU with a pulmonary embolism. I felt short of breath, some wheezing, some congestion, and had some discomfort on inhaling. Thought maybe I was getting a cold or bronchitits. I was walking A LOT after surgery, but as it turns out, it can come from the pelvic area without you even knowing it. I'm on blood thinners for a year. I gave myself shots of lovenox in my belly for 5 days. I have to go get my INR and Protime drawn 1-3 times a week. They (PE's) can be fatal. At least get some reassurance that it's not that. Please.

I ended up calling the doctor on call today and she said since it is getting better, which it is then that is a good sign. She said that if it gets worse then go to the ER. If I still had any concerns tomorrow then to go see my doctor.

Julie...who is nauseated and sleepier today then yesterday.
