2 week post-hysterectomy: Forgot to ask my doctor when I can take a bath?

Can I take a bath? I mean a long hot, soaky bath that is vital for my mental health at this point? LOL... I realize most people won't consider that vital but I am soooo irked I forgot to ask.

You can call and speak to a nurse at your docs office to find out. Depends on your doc. I was told at 4 weeks, some on my recovery report thread got cleared sooner and some not until 6 weeks. And yes baths are essential to my mental health as well!! So i completely get that!

My Dr restricted me to showers only for six weeks so the incisions would be closed well. I would just stand under the very hot water and let it flow over me. Felt so good. But you can always call and ask different Dr.'s follow different time lines.

not sure what kind of hysterectomy you had, but I would recommend you not take a bath until you clear it with your doctor. For a TAH I had to wait 5 weeks.

I was told 2 weeks and waited until 5 weeks to be on the safe side. Didn't want to get any type of infection...
