Just have to rant a little
I'm not sure if I'm posting this in the right place. I had my hysterectomy April 24 of last year, and I am finding out that it does take about a year to get over it.
I'm a teacher in Texas, and we were giving the TAKS English/Language Arts test today. The people in Austin tell us that we are required to practice "active monitoring" of the testers under our care. That means spending most of the day on my feet, from 8:30 until 1:00. I just can't do that much standing. I had to sit down frequently, but I situated myself where I could keep an eye on all 17 students I had. At one point, right after I sat down, I looked up to see the principal peering through the glass on my door. I thought, Okay, Mr. You just go right ahead and write me up. You'll wish you hadn't!
Now, I'm paying for being on my feet what time I was up. I HURT where my incision was! It healed up long ago, and the scar is barely visible, but I feel like I pulled something!
I am a grouchy old woman with no estrogen, and I hurt. And I do bite!
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

I would say you are entitled to rant a bit. Just do what feels right for you, don't worry what anyone else thinks. I don't have to be on my feet for my job, but I experienced fatigue for many months after my surgery. Even though I felt great, I would say it does take a year to get back up to full speed.

ColoradoDreamer,
Can you give us your darling principals' address at school so we can write letters if he writes you up? LOL, wouldn't that be lovely for him to receive hundreds of letters in your defense! Letters from angry women, I don't think he would stand a chance. Then you can call your local newspaper and they can do a story about your hystersisters and their letters!!
Okay, I'm off to bed with a smile on my face just imagining what his face would look like! hahaha

You are entitled to rant. I just had my SAH Feb. 7 so I have a long way to go. But remember one thing that is your job and no one truly is going to care about your health except for you and your family. If your principal wants to write you up, tell them how you are feeling and that it still causes you pain. I am not sure but if you go to the dr about this they won't be able to do anything to you because it is a medical issue. Rant away, that is what we are here for.

Just a suggestion, but you might want to mention this to your doctor. At 10 months post op, your pain could be related to something else and not your surgery. I say this because my job involves standing on my feet for my entire shift, and I never experienced any pain at or near the incision area after I returned to work. Any new pain needs to be brought to your doctor's attention, even at 10 months post op.
I hope you feel better soon.

I taught for 15 years and I know during testing they do like you to stand. So I stood at a podium and graded papers - looking up once in a while.
But I like the idea of us writing letters!!! I actually have found male principals to be much more understanding than females in the same position.. maybe he's just a crabby one! lol
But i agree.. call your Dr and make sure it isn't something else hon.

Just have to rant a little
I saw my doctor Monday and got a clean bill of health. It's just a combination of stress and being on my feet for so long. I usually teach sitting down because that's what I have to do.
I might also add that I'm still recovering from cancer treatments that I had a little over a year ago. Four surgeries for that (not counting the hysterectomy) and chemo. I'm also diabetic.

maybe kindly remind your principal friend that people with medical conditions (and it sounds as though you have a few you can refer to) are protected by law. Say the words "reasonable accomodations" for your recovery- like sitting when you need to and see his face turn white.

In all fairness to the principal, he only peeked in the window. Unless I'm missing something, that's all he did.
