There's no place like... a hotel?

I'm scheduled for a TAH/BSO on March 8. Even though I've been dealing with the issues that led up to it for a while, (heavy bleeding and pain that turned out to be endo, bilateral ovarian cysts and fibroids), it still came as a bit of a shock to me when I suddenly got worse, and the verdict was handed down.
While I've been a nervous wreck thinking about what lies ahead, and trying to work out my leave from work, my sweet DH has been preparing for my surgery better than I have myself! We live way out in the country, pretty isolated and rough. Both of us commute an hour or more to work. He was concerned about me being in the car all the way home and then being home way out in the boonies in the first week or so after the procedure, so he has reserved a suite at a hotel near his (and my sister's) work, and has called my mother who lives 250 miles away to arrange for her to be there with me for the first few days. My dd will be coming home on Spring Break just in time for me to go home, when I'm more up to it. I think it's a wonderful gesture - I won't have to look around at all the things I'm not able to get accomplished at home, I'll be in a nice, clean room and a big bed (instead of the ratty couch in our dinky living room - Our bedroom at home is upstairs)... I'll be close to help if I need it, and pretend that I'm on a vacation! (well, that's prolly stretching it, LOL!), but I think his plans are sweet, and so does my family... It feels so good to have this support... I can't imagine what it must be like for some of the ladies here posting that there's nobody in their family who understands...

Hi There!

That sounds like a wonderful plan! It makes me wonder...why didn't "I think of that? No cleaning to do, no bed to make, room service available -- sounds good to me!

Best Wishes and s

Aww! What a sweetheart! Some guys take a little while to warm up but they seem to get going - Maybe your DH can teach a class for the slow ones!? You sure are lucky and you will be crowned in extra style!!! Best wishes!
