Who should I be!

Hi Ladies,
I would just like to thank all of you that replied to my recent post entitled Who should I be! I have read your kind and thoughtful replies with intrest. Your experiences have enlightend my own feelings and I am now less worried that I will turn into my Mother or Mother in law after my hyst. Still not sure how I will restructure my inner sense of my body image without a uterus, but I guess once again I must face change with courage.
Thank you once again,
Regards Christine Angela

You are most welcome

Hi Christine Angela

I'm so glad to hear you're feeling more centered. Yes, I'm sure you'll adjust to your body image with no uterus. And it is and adjustment. I found it took some time and maybe I'm not all the way there yet, as I still have plenty of reminders of my surgery.

Best wishes!

Who should I be!

While some have a difficult time adjusting to the no uterus thing, others do not. I was VERY depressed before hand about "losing my femininity" ,aka my uterus, but I realized afterward that my uterus has really nothing to do with who I am. Since my surgery, I have come to realize that I still love the same things, still feel the same mentaly, and, in time , will be able to do the same things I did before. I know that the princesses that have had a BSO are facing a rougher road than I am right now but eventually I will face that road too. Because of this experience I have developed a better attitude regarding menopause. I used to view menopause as an ending. Now I just view it as another phase, just like puberty was a phase. I think I turned out ok after puberty so I think things will be fine after menopause. After all, attitude is everything!

Who should I be!

Christina... So glad you're finding some "peace of mind". I too had a bit of discovery time about the issue of uterus vs loss of self. I came to the conclusion that it's a body part, like many other body parts that can go wonky on us. We are so much more then a body organ. Our being is not about our uterus. We are all we make ourselves to be. We are intelligent, caring and brave individuals.

Keep your chin up and do keep us posted on your progress. With great love and affection. :inlove:
