Re: Appetite change after hysterectomy
It will be 6 months this month 12/24 that I had my hysterectomy. I have lost 22 pounds I have an app. that I use called lose it to remind me to eat because I still do not have appetite. I was seen by the doctor last week and the doctor said that if I lose any more weight she is going to make me get on anxiety medicine, Since I have started the patch two months ago I am sleeping every night now and I really do not have a lot of anxiety so I not sure why my doctor said that.

Re: Appetite change after hysterectomy
I was hungry about the 3rd - 6th days but now I have noticed I don't have much of an appetite. I don't think about eating until I hear my stomach growling. I have been so bothered with constipation and bloating until I am mostly on oatmeal, fruit cups and juice/water. I need and want to lose weight so the change in appetite is welcomed!

Re: Appetite change after hysterectomy
Oh great. Nothing really sounds good and sometimes I'm not even hungry but I am having no problems eating...and snacking from boredom! I was hoping a little loss of appetite would work in my favor!

Appetite change after hysterectomy
There are some medications used for anxiety/depression that have the side effect of increasing appetite. Perhaps that's why she said that?

Re: Appetite change after hysterectomy
LaurainAustin, I was prescribed Librax, starting my 5th day today and it has made a huge difference for me. The cramping I was getting mimicked contractions at times and although I was hungry, not much had agreed with me. I saw my doctor for my 8 week yesterday and all has healed well and I am cleared for exercise and more at this stage, but he agreed, my GI issues can take some time to get back to normal and completely supported my gastroenterologists decision for me to take Librax.
Still on a very bland diet but may try to add more foods in now and hope for the best. Will be thinking of you!!!!

Re: Appetite change after hysterectomy
I am 26 days PO and have no appetite. Hubby is getting worried. I've always loved food, snacks, junk food, healthy food, but nothing is appealing. I have GERD so I have to be careful of what I eat, but this is crazy to me. I'm glad to see that others are having the same issue. There have been cookies and chocolates in the kitchen since before Christmas and I could care less. I'm a Lifetime Weight Watchers member at goal weight so I know how important nutrition is, but I just can't eat. Made myself oatmeal with raisins for dinner. Hopefully tonight will be better, making chicken stew and dumplings.

Re: Appetite change after hysterectomy
Thanks Sherripreston! I had an abdominal ultrasound Friday and see the GI doc tomorrow. They think it might be my pancreas, which is really concerning (only google that if you know your pancreas is fine!). If my pancreas is fine I'll ask about Librax!
Never once in my life did I think about my pancreas. LOL! I will respect it forever after, that is for sure!
