Nell Ann

I recommend calling your doctor and have him/her discuss your concerns.

Re: 4 wks postop and blood?

i have the same issue! i had old blood (brown) and some drainage for about 3-31/2 weeks then turned to red blood. i have had it for about a week. it is like a light period, need to wear a pad. Not sure if I should call doc. I had a total hysterectomy is it possible to have a period one last time? any suggestions?

Re: 4 wks postop and blood?

Bently - I really don't think this is normal. You have no uterus left to bleed from. Call your Dr.

Re: 4 wks postop and blood?

I just couldnt function anymore so I came home, started a fire, changed into my comfy clothes & curled up in my chair with my dauchsies & Earnhardt blanket and slept for 3 hrs! Is it normal to feel this way?

Re: 4 wks postop and blood?

My doc told me that the cervical incision and stitches could still bleed for awhile. I am still bleeding at 4 weeks because I had a hematoma at the vaginal cuff. Doc said it would dissolve itself or they would have to drain it. Well thank goodness its dissolving itself. I also get concerned when I bleed a little too much after I do my exercises. Just dont want to pop a stitch. I have also read where others had problem with their stitches. Always call doc if u dont know if a symptom is supposed to be normal in ur healing.
Hugs!

Re: 4 wks postop and blood?

Bleeding at 4 to 5 weeks is normal for anyone who has a vaginal cuff. This is about the time that the internal sutures are starting to dissolve, so there is a chance of some spotting....now, keep in mind, if you are bleeding heavy...like a period or with large clots in it....THIS IS NOT NORMAL!! I would say that the spotting is okay, but if you are concerned, you should definitely call your Always better to be safe than sorry.

Thank you ladies!! I will put a call in but what you have said does make sense. I still feel a little run down today but hopefully will feel better soon.
