Hysterectomy surgery was 1/13

I will write a long summary tomorrow. I am very sore tonight... Getting in and out of bed to pee every 30 minutes I am ok though and no complications. My back is so sore and it feels like menstrual or kidney pain... My incision sites are very sore too ... No gas pain really and minimal swelling. Biggest issue is pain. Have ice pack, heating pad and pain meds. The gave me DIllotid(sp?) in the hospital because Fentynal wasn't touching my pain.... They sent me home with Tylenol with codein and when I move I shake and feel nauseous from pain. I haven't slept at all
Since waking up from surgery this morning. Any tips you guys? I'm super Owchy!

Re: Hysterectomy surgery was this morning!

The first day IS painful and I didn't sleep at all the first night even with morphine and percocet. Day 2 was much better and the more I walked the better I felt. I also started getting gas pain later in day 2. I am now 5 days post of and feeling really great. Gas x has been my best friend. I am just on ibprofren now

Re: Hysterectomy surgery was this morning!

Welcome to the other side!

I had a TAH so I was sore for a few weeks. But it only felt like I did a hundred crunches type of sore.

You will feel much, much better soon. Rest up. Make sure you have netflix, and have a happy recovery!

Hysterectomy surgery was 1/13

Random side note also, they removed my cervix, uterus and tubes but left ovaries.. Apparently this is common practice here but for me I had scar tissue on them and on my intestines on one side from my tubal years ago... Also my surgery was quick only taking 45 minutes for the actual DVH but the general surgeon spent an additional hour looking for that endometrioma that had shown in the MRI n my rectus muscle. It completely vanished. Without pathology they are unable to say with certainty what it was and there is a possibility it ruptured as last month I had 3 day period of severe pain which I visited a walk in clinic for to relieve pain meds (this is my theory no proof) is that possible?

Re: Hysterectomy surgery was this morning!

I hope they gave you stool softner, nausea medication and you will need gas x. I did best with my legs up on pillows. I stayed 2 nights in hospital but had very little sleep first night. I started with ice chips, graduated to ice water then peppermint tea. My back and hips hurt terribly I guess from surgery position. Don't skip your pain medication the first week, take it and sleep as much as possible. Costco does have a natural sleep aide that I have used in the past but honestly I have had no trouble sleeping so far. My only suggestion is watch what you eat because the gas is painful. I also eat prunes daily because constipation is horrible. Prayers for you!
