scared big girl with bikini cut

Hi, this is my first post and I have a question for you ladies. I have had a c-section before with the bikini cut but that was 20 years ago and I have grown. Will the bikini cut heal o.k. with my excess baggage there? I am worried about this tremendously. any and all help is greatly appreciated from anyone.

Re: scared big girl with bikini cut

Yes...I am a big girl, too, and mine healed perfectly. You just have to make sure you take care of it. Even after I left the hospital I always had one of those "surgipad" things over my incision until it was 100% healed. I do have a belly so I actually made sure it was in the crease of the skin to protect the incision as well as to wisk away any sweat. My fiance bought them at walgreens I think...the hospital didn't even give me enough to last until my staples were out. I also washed it regularly with soap and water and sometimes with peroxide, as per my doctor's instructions. I think you'll do A-okay if you take care of the incision.

Thanks, we will do that and get some of them. Were you worried about the staples hurting (poking) or getting caught on them or something? No chance of ripping any staples? I am so scared of this, I'm scheduled for Sept 14th with pre-op on the 9th.
God Bless!

Re: scared big girl with bikini cut

I too have the big girl "apron" and the c section scar - I heeled well and did use the surgical sponges they are similar to gauze but not as likely to get stuck on the staple the fold in my belly held them in place - one the stitches were out then the dr said to use peroxide and neosporin and keep using the sponges and everything has healed well - basic rule is keep it clean and dry. Good luck!

Re: scared big girl with bikini cut

No problems with sticking to the staples as they are different than gauze. However I removed them carefully just in case.

Re: scared big girl with bikini cut

I am not a huge girl, but I am bigger than I was after my previous c sections had healed. My incision has healed well. It did open up in 3 small places, but they healed well once they drained a little bit and with a dose of antibiotics. I am sure you will do fine.
