Re: recovery advice wanted!

Another great "gas" reliever I found on recommendation from my post op nurses is....

Ginger Tea. Heat Gingerale (I used diet gingerale because I'm freaky about sugar) in a coffee cup...and put a regular old tea bag in there and let it steep for a long time until it's strong. Sip on it and it really does help move the gas. Moving the gas, as painful as it is, really helps in the long run too....

Re: recovery advice wanted!

hey ladies I'm scheduled for a tah on 4/1 and no april fools joke here.. wondering did you see weight gan issues after your recovery pd? I figure swelling and water weight...might make things diffeent even out 6 wks, but any menopausal effects that make my routine allow me to gain weight? I'm 35, workout about an hr a day 5x a week and take in 1400 calories a day....and how long until you could resume exercise?

Re: recovery advice wanted!

I am just over 3 weeks post TAH/BSO. It was 10 days from the first visit to the GYN Dr. to surgery day so I didn't have a lot of time to think about the surgery - which I think is a good thing. i did know that it was the right thing to do in my situation and I do not regret getting it done even at 3 weeks.

My advise is to get a few meals in the freezer for someone to warm up - do a good grocery shop. And I mopped the kitchen floor the morning of my surgery. Then let everything go.
Plan to rest rest rest, drink drink drink (water!) and regain your strength.
Let those you love take care of you - it's good for them to experience giving tlc. make yourself a priority - The most helpful thing I found on this wb site was - You only have one chance to heal properly --do do it!

I wish you well.
