doctor today for date

I am going to dr this morning to set up my surgery date. I was wondering how long a hospital stay I can expect for a complete abdominal hysterectomy for endo? I am really scared of staying in hospitals. Especially any more than one day.

((( Catty )))

I wanted to wish you welll for your dr visit today.
I had a tah/bso and I was in the hospital for 3 1/2 days. I was scheduled for 2 but I had a reaction to the morphine and ended up having to stay longer.
This is a question that your dr should be able to answer for you today at your visit. I made a list of my questions so that I wouldn't forget any.

Catty:
I had a TAH/BSO on Oct 1st. My castle stay was suppose to be 2 days, but I over did it on Thursday and swelled up so my dr kept me one more day. According to my dr most castle stays are 2-4 days for TAH.

Good luck at your appt. Take a list of questions and be prepared to write down more as you are talking to the dr!!!

Take care,
Tammy

My TAH is scheduled for 10/29 and I plan on staying until 11/1. My doctor originally said I'd be released on 10/31, but after checking with my insurance co. I found out they approved a 3 night stay, so I am taking advantage of the extra day. My reasoning is that I will be less stressed in the Hospital than at home with my three young children who rely on mommy for everything, my dog who relies on me to let him out, my husband who relies on me for almost everything, my sisters who are coming in from Germany and California, overbearing parents and in-laws. You get the idea.

I understand your fear of hospitals, but you don't want to push yourself out too quickly. The nurses and doctors are there to care for you and know what to look for as far as complications go.

Good luck with everything and I hope you have a painless and uneventful recovery!

Hi Catty

Welcome. Each hospital and doctor is different. You can bet it will be as few days as possible be as few days as possible because your your insurrance company is cheap, stingy and pennurious.

So figure 2-4 days barring any complications. And as a special princess to be there will be no complications. it's not allowed for royalty!

You need to remember that the hospital staff are there to support you through your recovery. You might consider taking advantage of however many days you will be allowed. Ladies who push their recovery too fast actually end up having a longer
recovery.

Just something to think about

I, too, do not like hospital stays. That's what I'm dreading the very most, and as my castle date draws closer, it's what I'm obsessing over. It's not that I've had *bad* experiences, it's that I don't sleep. Since my Dr rescheduled my pre-op visit to the 14th, I had very mixed feelings about only having 2 days to prepare.
Thank goodness I found the Sisters when I did. The support & information has been invaluable. And thank you to all the sisters who post. I do feel more confident going into surgery, and into my appt with my list of questions. I will be asking for some type of sleeping aid, and hoping that my stay is very very short. I'm extremely lucky to have a super dh.
Good Luck & let us know how you're doing.
Going back into lurk mode.
Meg
