About Hospital Arrangements

Hello,

I am a high risk candidate for surgery, because I have another medical condition. The Anesthesiologist talked to me beforehand (he's supposed to be REALLLY) good. As I will be at a smaller hospital (excellent reputation though). He suggested that I be put in the ICU my first night so that I can be looked after more closely.

I was wondering if any of you have encountered any problems with get pre-authorizations from your insurance companies? I think I might get some trouble about getting an ICU stay covered.

Thanks!

About Hospital Arrangements

that might have to be arranged once youre in the hospital. my lsh had a one night stay but when i couldnt eat because of the gas pain and i had the choice to stay..i chose to stay for the iv pain meds. the dr/hospital took care of that with my insurance company and all was covered. as long as he has a valid reason for you needing to be in icu and it can be proven, you shouldnt have any problems.
good luck

I hope that all goes smoothly for you. Hopefully your dr will be able to tell the insurance about your need for ICU & it will be approved.
I was preapproved for a 2-3 day stay for my tah/bso. I had a bad reaction to morphine & ended up staying extra. Insurance covered it with no real problems.

Best wishes.

Should be fine

I work for a drs. office and we deal with insurance companies all the time on pre-authorizations for tests, admissions and medications. As long as you have a valid reason it is covered all the time. Your doctor may have to go through several departments at the insurance company but as long as it is a logical reason that usually never deny.
