period-like pain with nothing left?

Hi all - I'm not sure if this is the right forum to post in.

Does anyone know if it's possible to still have monthly period-like pains after a hyst and oopherectomy?

About once a month I get this lower back pain that is exactly like I used to get with my periods. I don't see how it's possible I could still be on some kind of a monthly cycle with everything gone, has anyone else experienced this?

thx!

If you still have your ovaries, absolutely. You will still ovulate, pms, etc... I use to get migrains 3 or 4 times a year, I would pms for a day (prior to prolapse uterus, seemed like I pms-ed for 2 weeks..lol..). I started writing down on my calendar when I thought I was having pms, we'll see next month if I was right. I also got a migrain last week. My dr said that she's not suprized, my ovaries are still be working.

thanks baubee

no, I don't have my ovaries. I am wondering if maybe I had a little endo that is still in there and acting up monthly. Or maybe it's "phantom" period pain?

I'm going to mark on my calendar when I get it, that will help.

period-like pain with nothing left?

I had my hysterectomy in March. Everything removed, including ovaries. I went right into menopause. My doctor asked me if I wanted to be put on something for my hot flashes, I said no I will stick it out. About week 2, I started having hot flashes and by week 6 I think I was waking up every hour. Almost couldn't stand it and ready to call my doctor but am deciding to stick it out. I am having no problems in the sexual department. The feeling, urges and desires are all there. I was surprised. My flashes have settled down also, I actually haven't had one in more then a week. What I really want to know is that when you get thrown into menopause, how long does it last? It is a faster ending? Oh BTW I ordered the 'Very Private daily intimate moisture', it works well but most of the time I don't even need it.

i had everything taken out but the left ovary which still has a small amount of endo on it.
the gyno doc told me that it is normal for me to feel some period like pains once in awhile because of it. fortunaly the few period like pains i have felt have been very minor unlike what it was like when i had a uterus.
also you could have some endo on your bowels and or bladder.

I, myself, am experiencing pelvic pain, and I was 'stripped clean,' so to speak. No ovaries, no nothing. But I'm still having the pain and it's very irritating. I still haven't made an appointment for my yearly 'touchy feely.'
