TAH causing problems with sight...???

Has any one had a problem with their eye sight since surgery?
I know its a strange question but my eyes have gone really bad.
I had a few surgeries in the past few years and every time it effected my sight.
But the drop in vision is really bas this time.
Any one have any ideas as to what causes this to happen?
Thanks
Steph

TAH causing problems with sight...???

I can't help you with a cause, but I had a huge change in eyesite right after surgery. I got a call on my cell phone just when I got back to my room, from surgery, and I couldn't read who the call was from. I was able to read perfectly with my glasses that morning, but since then I have to remove my glasses for small letters. Also, eye dr. changed my contact perscription, last week and that was just 3 months after my last change. Everyone stares at me like I'm nuts when I tell them this and I don't think they believe me.

TAH causing problems with sight...???

I had to get bifocals after my op last year...few months after and it is more that a little uncomfortable.

I thought it was just an age thing. I'm 41. It is extremely annoying to try to read a cookbook and see what I'm doing on the stove. I can't master the bifocals.

TAH causing problems with sight...???

Hi Steph
I was a little freaked out after my TAH because I could not focus on words in a book! I asked mt Dr. if it was anything to d with the operation and he said it was most likely from the meds, both the pian meds and the anti-nausea meds. He reminded me that they would take time to be fully out of my system. That may be what you are experiencing. Are you still taking pain meds?
Best of luck with your recovery!

TAH causing problems with sight...???

Just sharing with you lucky folks who can take pain meds. I'm allergic and had, still have the vision problem. It came directly after my op but who knows?

Not trying to insult or be critical of you gals. Just sharing my experience. I have not brought this up with my dr. because he could care less but blaming meds..no way, come on are you kidding?
I"m beginning to suspect that there are gyn's that give a hoot.

If they give a hoot they will not blame the meds. These are our eyes.

Yes I am still having problems. I used to be able to cross stitch without glasses and now I need them. If I am looking between objects at different distances then I have to wait for my eyes to catch up to focus.

TAH causing problems with sight...???

I had an eye appointment two weeks after surgery and asked my eye doctor about this because I had heard of it. He said it isn't very common but it does happen.

Luckily, my prescription stayed the same.

Good luck!!

TAH causing problems with sight...???

Its nice to know I'm not going crazy.
I guess I'll have to make another eye appointment and get my glasses changed yet again. They were changed at Christmas after my shoulder surgery.
Its very frustrating being told its your age when I know its to do with the meds they gave me to put me to sleep. Especially as its happened a few times now right after waking up from a surgery and the vision has never improved.
I think its time to put a few calls into some docs and see what I can find out.
Thanks every one.

TAH causing problems with sight...???

i have always believed that eyesight is affected by hormones. I had to get glasses when I went thorugh puberty. two of my children needed glasses when they went through puberty. as people age and our hormones decrease, our eyesight changes again.

just my $.02

As far as changes after surgery I can't hlp with that.
