I was very happy to find a place to go for support as I am on my road to recovery. My incision opened up the day I had my staples removed, 1 wk. post op. It was dicouraging at first, but it is healing well with no signs of infection. The hardest part now is accepting the change in my body. My first thought when I found out I had to have a total hyst. was I won't be a women anymore. how can I get past that?

Re: newbie

I look at myself as more of a woman now; the woman I always knew was there, but she was over shadowed by pain and anemia and looking over weight and unsexy because her uterus weighed almost 12 pounds. I'm free now. I'm light and happy and pain free and and my lips aren't white from lack of red blood cells. I guarantee that your happy, sexy, complete women is there looking at you every morning when you brush teeth.

Re: newbie

remember those organs were only a part of who we are....try looking at it being no different than having your tonsils or appendix removed (except it was major surgery) but what I mean is that it is just a part not who you are, you will still feel, and love and have desires just slightly different than before and your emotions maybe more than before lol but you are still a woman no less, just lighter and eventually pain free

Re: newbie

Chanlujo, don't kid yourself... only a STRONG WOMAN could go through this!! We are every bit the women we were before...only now we are on the road to feeling better. Feeling good = strength! Some of the feelings we feel are hormonal, too...but every single day remind yourself of your strength, worth, and beauty! And come here a lot, it's great for a reminder!
