Nervous about hormones

Hello to all you sisters. I am so glad I found this site. It has been a god sent. I am scheduled for December 19th for TAH. I am more nervous about what my hormones are going to do after the surgery than anything. I know I will be able to keep at least one ovary but I was wondering if anyone out there had any advice?

Nervous about hormones

49erfan, Cowboy fan here. How are the 49er's doing this year? The Cowboys are actually doing pretty good finally. I am having a TAH and LSO, I had my right overy removed 13 years ago and I have been living with one. As for living with one ovary I never really thought about it. I have been just fine until the past 2 1/2 years when my ovary decided to start torturing me with cysts and that is why I am having a TAH LSO. I have never supplemented hormones but could be having some undiagnosed hormone problems now since I am having so many problems with my ovary. Take care and keep reading there are some great ladies on here.

Nervous about hormones

I'm 3 weeks post-op (ovaries removed and LAVH) and so far I've only had some minor hot flashes. I know everyone is different, but you may not have any trouble at all. Good luck with your surgery and recovery!

Nervous about hormones

Almost 2 weeks post-op and everything gone! I was nervous about hormone issues and especially with the HRT option as it was a concern for my mother who had her TAH due to cervical cancer. I spoke to my Doc about it and we both felt comfortable with the decision to try a very low dosage of hormones (Premarin) for a couple of months. Due to my age he felt I was going to need the help and after starting Surgical menopause on day 2, I was quite happy to get some assistance.

Just make sure you talk to you doctors, look at all your options and decide to do what's best for you. Let us know how you go.
