Rad Hyst Post-Op Cancer free

Had my Rad hyst via dvH on Tue and am working on recovery. I wanted to let everyone know that my path report came back cancer free on everything but my cervix which was the reason I had the surgery to begin with. I am so relieved! I also did get to keep my ovary. What a great way to encourage my recovery than with a great path report. Thanks for all your support here.

That is great news....hoping for similar news aswell once pathology is back. Congrats. Do you need any radiation/chemo or just checkups now?

Re: Rad Hyst Post-Op Cancer free

Thanks! My follow-up with my onc is next Tues, but she was pretty sure I would just need check-ups from here on. I'll be having positive thoughts for your path report. Let us all know. Hugs!!

Re: Rad Hyst Post-Op Cancer free

Congrats that's great! I wondered if you could tell me how the doc decided that you could keep the ovary...did he get in there and check them out during the surgery and then make the call? Or, did he do tests prior?

I'm about to have the surgery and need to decide whether to keep or get rid of the ovaries so any info would be helpful....I asked for an ultra sound to see the ovaries but I'm not sure how much info that will provide...at the moment all they know is that my cancer is in the cervix and uterus...

Thanks
Lynda
