scheduled for early Sept

I know it's 2 months away, my surgery, but I was wondering What sort of pre-op labs, preps, etc. is there to do? I am seeing the dr Aug 27 to sign my consent for surgery form, will she then send me to the lab for my pre-op work? And also I think it's a little odd that she doesn't get me in to see her a lot earlier to discuss the procedure, and everything. B/C all I know is that she performs an abdominal hysterectomy, nothing cervically or vaginally. And not sure what all she is taking out.

Maybe I should call her next week and ask to come in to dicuss things w/ her. I think going in in late August to discuss to whole procedure, and things is kinda late in the game.

Any insight on this would be much appreciated.

I think that since you have questions, a call to either ask them or arrange an earlier visit might be a good idea. I like to know what to expect ahead of time too
I knew what procedure and type of incision about a month ahead. I had my pre-op visit with both the dr and hospital the day before my surgery.

you have a lot of time to do research before you go in and see you dr. look into different types of hysterectomies and whether or not you want to keep your cervix or ovaries. be informed and you'll feel much better when you have your appt to discuss things. think about whether or not you would like to keep your ovaries for hormones, ask her if maye you qualify for a laparoscopic procedure, etc. read a lot and learn a lot before you go in..and definitely try to make the appt sooner than aug. you might want to get a second opinion after you speak to her and you want to have time for that. good luck

Just letting you know that I called the Dr today and I have an appt set for Aug 13, 2 weeks before I go and sign my consent for surgery forms. I just thought it was odd that we hadn't set a date to talk about the procedure and everything. I know I am opting, my full decision, to do a hysterectomy and not a lap. I am 34, have all my kids and am VERY sick and tired of feeling this way every month....might as well just get rid of it! I just don't know what she is planning on taking/leaving and all the other details. That's what my Aug 13th appt is for, which I am very anxious about.

I saw my GYN on Friday for pre-op and had my surgery on the following Tuesday. For my blood work they did a cbc with type and cross just in case.
You haven't lived until you take part in bowel prep. Oh what joy................NOT!

Time will fly until it is surgery day.
