New here & Scared

Hi! I'm new to this. For years I've had problems w/ cramps. Had LSO in 1998, since then it's been hard to get outta bed most months during my cycle. Finally went back to original Dr. and had a lap done. Only burned out some endo. Started to hemmorage last Sunday, went to the ER now Dr has me schelduled for a complete hyst- not sure what kind yet! Kinda worried since I'm only 26....and my hormones are all wacky!!!!!!!!! Have pretty great support at home. But could use some advise from someone who's "been there"...Thanks, Amy

New/scared

Hey,
Welcome to the best place you can be!! Sorry to hear about your trouble. I am 13 weeks post op today after having a TVH (vaginal hys). I'm 42, so I'm lots older than you, and I don't think I've been through nearly anything you have as far as symptoms. Mine was done because of prolapse. I also had rectal/bladder repairs done.

You don't mention kids, so I can't advice you on that part of it, but do talk this over thoroughly with your MD until YOU'RE satisfied that this is the best option. And if you can/want to, get a second opinion. I didn't do that simply because I was ready not to have a period and dealing with a bulge from prolapse.

When is surgery scheduled? Don't worry about preparation unless there are kids. You'll need some help there, but everyone can take care of themselves, if need be.

If you'd like to email me with more specific questions, I'll be more than happy to help all I can. My home email is listed below. I'll check in this weekend to see if you've written.

Take care and keep searching on this site for any/all info you need.

Hello Amy....welcome to hystersisters. Pre-op is emotional and scary..no doubt about that. I had tah/bso March 2000 and surgery and recovery were both uneventful and I feel wonderful.

We'll be with you every step of the way. Again, welcome aboard.

Hi!

Hi Amy,

Just wanted to welcome you to the boards! and let you know that THE WORST part is the waiting!

Great to hear that you will have support at home, that too is important!

The main thing to remember is that you will HAVE TO be SUPER careful once you are at home. It is NOT easy! I have to constantly remind myself what I can and cannot do.

This IS the BEST place to be during this time, and afterwards! Make use of all of the info here and Post any questions as we are all here to help one another!

Take Care and God Bless!

Amy,
I was 27 when I had my TVH. Everyone was shocked because I was so young. It was fine. I felt much better afterward. I had 2 kids and that was all I wanted. Be so thankful you have found this site now. All of these women are wonderful and very supportive!

Keep us posted on how you are!!

Ami...So sorry to hear about your problems. I know how you feel though. I am 25 and recently found out that I have to have a hysterectomy also. I agree it is very scary. It is a very unsure time. My DH got me on this sight (since I am not a real computer genious) and I have read and learned a lot of assuring things. I am also very scared..but know it has to be done. The thought of having no more children is very disturbing to me. Along with all the other terrifying thoughts that come with it. Any way, I haven't had mine yet, but if you would like to talk anytime feel free to contact me. We can be scared together K! Email Address is saamstewart@yahoo.com

My Prayers Are With You!

God Bless!

Tammie
