10 wk. weak, tired, lightheaded

I went back to work at 9 1/2 weeks. I have worked three days. I am a casino dealer, standing 8hrs. I feel soo weak, tired and almost dizzy, like I am going to faint. Are most people this exhausted at this point in recovery? I am not sure if I should call the Dr. or not. I am only working 4 days a week for the first three weeks. this is my first; hopefully last surgery. Not sure what is "normal

Suggestions?

TAH, gutted like a fish, tumors.

eelinc - I am 7 weeks out and I had the Davinci which is supposed to be much easier to recover from. I am very easily tired out from doing very little. I also wonder if this is normal or maybe I am depressed. Really I think I am becoming depressed because I am so tired all the time and cannot accomplish anything. I am going to see the doctor this week to talk it over. Hormones maybe?

Could you work shorter days for a while? Maybe you need to build up gradually.

Good luck to you. I hope you get your energy back soon.

Hey ! I had a TVH 4 days before you. I am so tired and weak that I don't even want to talk. I tripped yesterdy just walking through the kitchen because i didn't pick my foot up high enough to take a step. I don't know if it's normal or not but I know it's not just you. I will be seing my dr. thursday and I will mention this to him. Maybe he will have an answer for us .

I would be speaking to my Dr. 8 hours on your feet is a very long time even if you are only doing 4 days this week.

What preparation have you done to build up to this level of standing? For example, I sit down at a computer screen for 990% of my 8 hour day at work. % weeks after my TAH/BSO I am using Hystersisters to see how long I can comfortably sit at a computer for and have been building it up over the last week so I can now do 3 hours - nowhere near where I need to be to go back to work at week 6 so I am off to the Dr on Friday to ask for a further 2 weeks off. I will also speak to my boss to make sure I can start back slowly and build up from there, I already know there is some flexibility there.

I would expect you to be tired and weak after your first day back but the dizziness doesn't sound right to me. Is there anyway you could do half shifts for the rest of this week?

Take care of yourself, don't push yourself too hard or you will be back to square one.

10 wk. weak, tired, lightheaded

I started standing the week before I returned to work, at first for 30 min, then up to 1 hour. I was tired, but did not feel like I did at work. I get a 20 min break after each hour. I went to work today, it was much better, I was tired, but not dizzy. Also, I have been put on casino games which are easier (not a lot of counting, or stretching to pay/take chips). Also, I started Blood Pressure medicine the day I returned to work. One of the side effects is dizzieness, fatigue, weakness. All of the things I experienced. I believe this medicine severly contributed to how I felt. I stopped taking the BP meds. Can start once my strenght is better. I am pre-hypertension.

Also, I cannot work 4 hrs or less without getting points for attendance (as my FMLA is used up), so I will carry on.

Thank you for your responses.

Hi Liz

Glad you coped better today, make sure to rest as much as you can.

Sorry that the blood pressure meds made you feel like this and hope you won't cause problems by not taking them.

Thanks for being there for me, I sincerely appreciate it!!!!!! Tired today, but not exhausted. I have 10 day vacation on 10/14 (staying in Vegas, Mom has convention here), so I will start BP meds then. Hopefully, will be adjusted before I go back to work. Which will be 14 wks post-0p.
