Anyones symtoms suddenly get better before surgury?

Has this happened to anyone? This month since my last period, which was HORRIBLE, has been better than normal. I am usually in pain everyday, just crampy achy feeling in abdomen and back. My next period is due in in 1 week and this month has been sugnificantly better that normal. I have not had half the pain that I normally do. I am still bleeding everyday like normal, but no pain. This makes me wonder if I'm doing the right thing. Maybe I don't need the surgury, except that I'm still bleeding and that really *****. Why has this happened. This sounds crazy, but I almost wish I was still in pain so I won't be tempted to change my mind. My doctor said she has had many woman cancel their surgury only to call back during their next period and reschedue. I'm afraid I'll be one of those!

Anyones symtoms suddenly get better before surgury?

Jennifer, that seemed to have happened to me also. I have had my surgery date since April, and 3 periods since then. These last 3 have not been that bad at all compared to what I have been going thru in last 3 years... lasting only 5 dyas instead of 10, NO clots, which is rare... But I had absolutely no thoughts of changing my surgery date.

With Adenomyosis I believe this is really the only option, adenomyosis doesnt go away or get better, only worse.

Boy do I know what your going through!
Since I committed myself to a definite plan of action I seem to feel not quite as a crappy or crabby--but that could be down to being on a 'mission' to get things done and in order at home and work shifting my focus from my discomfort to what has to get done.
One interesting thing:
I received a depo shot in January in an attempt to stop/slow down my bleeding. It did stop the clots but the bleeding has been non stop since then. My hemoglobin finally went up to a normal range that it hadn't seen in two years and I started thinking hmmmm--maybe this is not the course I need to take (the hyster) I am 49..perimenopausal with bleeding issues, enlarged tender uterus and a constant dull ache deep in my right hip--now where did I get the idea I might not need this surgery????
I won't be backing off--I need to feel 100% better but in all honesty--I cannot remember when I last felt good--I have adapted to the pain and I think because as women we are designed to function under any circumstances and we just do.
good luck to you!

Anyones symtoms suddenly get better before surgury?

I, too, had a Depo Provera shot three months prior to my surgery. The shot helped some and I thought, well maybe, I could live on Depo Provera and not have surgery. The doctors thought I had a fibroid and because of that I always had it in my head that I could wait for menopause. Weeeellllll, the effects of the shot wore off about a week before my surgery and the flood gates opened again. I knew then that there was no turning back. I was bleeding in the pre-op center and was so afraid they might tell me I was too anemic to go on with the surgery.

Thankfully, the surgery proceeded as scheduled and my pathology report indicated I didn't have a huge fibroid; I had adenomyosis. Adenomyosis does not get better. It gets worst over time. So my idea to try to hold out would have brought on more health issues.

I don't regret surgery at all. Try not to second guess. I agree with your doctor. You could be calling to reschedule next month. We all have second thoughts because this is major surgery.

Anyones symtoms suddenly get better before surgury?

I think it is a mental thing. You know that it will be over, so your mind is blocking a lot of the pain. People cope with things in different ways. I have been just the opposite. For the past few years I have convinced myself that the increasing pain was "normal" and have not allowed myself to feel all of it. Now that the end is near, my brain has decided not to ignore it since it is a qualified pain. So, now I am feeling it all- and oh so happy that I only have 3 weeks left of it.

Don't worry about it. You are doing the right thing. It's the same thing that happens with hair- the day of your hair cut your hair looks better than it did for the past 3 weeks.

Allow your mind to cope with what is happening. Take a deep breath, exhale, and feel confidant that you are doing what's best for your future.

Anyones symtoms suddenly get better before surgury?

I made the decision to have the surgery in Jan. But my date for surgery was April 20th. I had to train people to fill in for me at work which is why there is a big lag in between deciding to do it & having it done. Anyway, I didn't have a period in Jan, Feb, Mar or April. This after having a period for 28 days in Nov & Dec. My husband said that my uterus got scared & decided to behave itself once it found out we were going to have it removed!!!
I went ahead & had the surgery because I knew it was just a temporary thing. Worry & stress can do weird things to your body. Honestly, I didn't want to take the chance that it would come back with a vengenace & I'd have to wait another 3 months to get in. Don't let you're body give you a false sense of security. It's just teasing you.

Anyones symtoms suddenly get better before surgury?

Brief thoughts of not needing the surgery have crossed my mind at times too but I remind myself of the facts and those thoughts of cancelling vanish.

Feb 4th I started a period that lasted 110 days and went from normal flow to severe hemorrhaging resulting in an urgent D&C. I had 3 weeks after that when Aunt Flo abandoned me. It was wonderful!

However, 2 doctors have told me that the bleeding WILL return, the D&C was only a temporary band-aid fix to buy me some time. The only question is when will it start again.

A couple weeks ago I started bleeding again despite the hormones prescribed to prevent it. It stopped after 6 days but for those 6 days I was in fear every moment that it would again turn to hemorrhaging at any second.

I am perimenopausal, there's no way to tell how long it'll be before natural menopause kicks in, family history is no help as hysterectomy seems to run in the family.

But I am in control now, my surgery is in 47 hours! I am evicting Aunt Flo and Uncle Payne permanantly. I will get through it and be better, healthier and stronger by the end of summer, and so will you my dear. Hang in there, life promises us better things to come!

WHAT WAS I THINKING?! My "normal" pain started this afternoon and I am back on the vicodin. It hurts like my period is gonna start any minute and it shouldn't start until this Sunday. OUWCH!

Desert-thistle I love what you said about kisses being a main food group or the most important. I can't live without them!
