Re: Surgery is 3 days away, SO NERVOUS!!!

My surgery is Thursday as well. I have to be at the hospital at 5:30 am for my 7:30 am surgery. My nerves aren't rattled yet but I bet after my pre=op tomorrow morning they will kick in. Still trying to wrap my brain around this being an outpatient surgery. Hope all goes well for everyone!

Re: Surgery is 3 days away, SO NERVOUS!!!

I had a LSH/BSO on 7/26, and I was also more nervous about the pain, particularly the gas pain. I had horrible pain after my previous laps and knew what to expect. Prayers were answered because I didn't suffer from that pain. I have had discomfort from the surgery itself but no severe pain issues. I hugged the pillow when I sat down or stood up. I took it easy the entire week. Now I have started doing some light housework.

Do not try to be superwoman and not take pain meds. They help you to manage the pain so your body can focus on healing. If you are put on a schedule to take them, regardless of pain or not, do so because it is helping.

Best of luck to you.

Re: Surgery is 3 days away, SO NERVOUS!!!

I will have my surgery Friday and I am nervous also..I actually had an extra appt just to talk to my doc one last time. She helped me come down...but the only thing she told me to think about was if I wanted to keep my right ovary. It gives me problems every now and then. Im just worried about it benefiting me now. I don't want no more problems.

Re: Surgery is 3 days away, SO NERVOUS!!!

One quick tip for all of you. Bring a pillow to hug while you are in the hospital. I know it sounds funny but it helped me when I had to walk, cough, sneeze. Mine was a purple pillow. I also used it as a hug when no one was around and need one. Take care and just know that after surgery be pampered. Don't rush anything, even going back to work. Take you pain meds, and relax
