Re: Panic out of the blue 5 days post hysterectomy?

I've never had anxiety before and I'm 3/4days post op. But I have swinging emotions and moments of being scared with it all. It's definately related to hormones but also the anaesthetic in your body and all that your body is doing to repair and adjust. Your brain is very closely linked to what is happening physically. Doing something nice to relax your mind and be kind to yourself. It's a tough journey before we get to this point so its bound to be a little rocky in the recovery. It will get better I'm sure. Lets all give ourselves the time we deserve to heal physically and emotionally xx

Re: Panic out of the blue 5 days post hysterectomy?

My panic attacks are increasing. After years of learning to "bring it back down", I am coping. I keep doing my breathing techniques and attempting to meditate. I WOULD LOVE A LAVENDAR BATH! They always help.

Elisa, Ice Cream and Netflix sounds perfect!

Sam, I agree! I don't think it is just hormones. We all have to remember we had major surgery. Our entire system is trying to regroup, physically and mentally. The difficult part for me is I keep having to remind myself to give myself a break

Re: Panic out of the blue 5 days post hysterectomy?

I think you are perfectly normal. I had a cough from the tube inserted in my throat for a week or more. Even with keeping your ovaries the blood supply is different and sometimes it takes a while to get them to kick in, and on top of that, you went off birth control. Throw in some pain killers on top of that if you're on me and I think that is where a lot of this is coming from. I hope you are feeling better soon, but give yourself some time,

Re: Panic out of the blue 5 days post hysterectomy?

I'm still on the birth control - didn't want to change too many things at once. But my body is healing, I'm totally out of my routine as I'm normally very active, someone else is taking care of my kids and my house and of course he's not doing it exactly as I would do. Plus it seems like from something else I read that maybe the anesthesia drugs stay in your system enough to change how you feel for up to 6 weeks?
Netflix and ice cream are still my friends, but I haven't had any more panic attacks, just low level anxiety.
