I just want to be back to my old self

I am 10 days post op after a TAH/BSO. I am always tired, tired of the pain, tired from not getting good sleep due to Hot Flashes tired of these mood swings tired of feeling anything but normal.

I've been trying to do things I shouldn't which has resulted in severe pain and back to bed for 2 days which just hasn't helped.

I just didn't know it would be like this and I am frustrated!! And, in case you didn't get it the first time, TIRED!!!!! Help!!!!!!

I'm so sorry to hear you're feeling this way hon! I pushed myself one day, then had a heck of a time the following day. So rule #1 is now---take things as I can, so that I can continue on the following day!

Get the rest you need and don't push yourself too hard. I know that's difficult, but as they say, we only get one chance to heal. Must heal properly to prevent issues later on. It's ok to cry, and let it all out, but remember that it hasn't even been 2 weeks since your surgery!! You have the rest of your life to do all those other things! But just today to heal.

I just want to be back to my old self

Hi there,
What you are feeling is normal. Don't overdo it. It doesn't take much. I am almost 7 weeks and I still have to take it easy or I regret it. Do you have help at home? Get lots of rest. Are you on HRT? If things are bad for you maybe you should call your DR and talk about how you are feeling. In the mean time, rest alot...your body needs it to heal. It's apretty traumatic thing we did to our bodies and it takes quite a while to heal. So be good to yourself and take it easy. Best wishes to you.

I just want to be back to my old self

I know this is SO HARD! I had to agree not to return to work because I just wasn't ready. My doc said, "Going back to work because of guilt is NOT an answer." My mind wants to DO-DO-DO, but my body is NOT ready. Its terrible to feel this way when you just want to be back to normal. However, this is one thing I've found I can't win at...no matter how hard I try, my body has the say in all this. So, I've dug out more movies and books that I've wanted to read and have gone back to napping instead of pushing myself.
ps. it also doesn't help when you hear about what OTHER people were doing after their hysterectomies. I'm talking about my best friend who reminds me that two weeks after her TAH she was walking four miles a day!

I just want to be back to my old self

At two weeks, I could not shuffle my feet much less walk a mile. I think you will feel dramatically better by/at week 12.

I just want to be back to my old self

The way Your recuperation will go is all about your mind set. Beleive me I learned that lesson. Try to enjoy this time, when else can you legitamatly get pampered and waited on. And you don't even have to feel guilty about it. Give yourself a break! Everything will wait for you (if your really lucky someone else might even do some of it) Last year I had a breast reduction and I pushed myself because I was afraid the world would stop if I wasnt helping it along. It was a HUGE mistake. My recuperation took MONTHS instead of weeks becuase of it. So this time I just excepted it and you know what it's only been 7 weeks and I feel great! Rest, That's what you are supposed to do. Listen to your body even if you don't want to listen to any one else.

I just want to be back to my old self

I remember feeling that way so many times during the first few weeks. I'm not a good patient at all. I'd push myself too hard and then feel miserable about it later. The lack of sleep almost drove me around the bend. Now, I'm back at work and life and wishing I could back up some to take it easy again. It does get better each week and the time will be over before you know it. Rest, relax and just keep telling yourself that you're going to be okay. Let your Dr. know about your symptoms, even if you can't take HRT, there are things he can prescribe or suggest to ease the agony.

You will be surprised how much better you will feel week by week. The first 2 weeks are the hardest. At 8 weeks, I feel almost totally normal. You should talk to your doctor about all the symptoms though because there is help for most all of them. Unfortunately there is no pill called patience. We just have to dig deep and find it within ourselves to take it easy. We've been through a lot and our long term recovery depends on it. Take care and consider yourself hugged.

You are not alone!! I have had my share of weepy nights. It gets better. And then sometimes you just need to sit down, have a good cry and remember you just went through a huge surgery and you need time for your body and mind to adjust to all the changes. Be good to yourself and get all the pampering you can.

I just want to be back to my old self

Hi, I'm 17 day out from my surgery, I'm also tired and think i've been doing too much, I have to go back to work in 5 weeks, that is all the time I have before running out of sick/annual time. I know I am not going to be ok by then.
