post-op 20 days, working

hi
i had to go back to my work on 21st day of my surgery. I had to travel 4 hrs and had to be up from 7am to 9pm, in between could not rest. I felt my tummy churning by the end of the day, and was very tired. There were few blood drops and dark colour sticky discharge. i worked on friday and saturday . Though today i feel better iam worried about my internal healing. my surgeon permitted to go to work but still iam worried whether iam right in working now or do i need to take rest for a week more.

when would I be able to resume my normal rigorous schedule and not worry about my internal healing?

Re: post-op 20 days, working

Three weeks sounds a bit soon to me - I went back after 4.5 weeks and was still very tired. The fact that you're bleeding a little is not a good sign either - it means you're overdoing it. I'd definitely take some more time off if you can, or at least reduce your working hours a little.
Good luck,
Christina

Re: post-op 20 days, working

That's too soon, as indicated by the blood. That's how you know when things are too much as well as having an elevation in pain. I am almost 7 wks post op from a DaVinci. I'll be going back to work this week. I am very lucky that I could do that. Make sure you rest this weekend to allow your inards to heal even more. Take care.

Re: post-op 20 days, working

I went back day 14 to my desk job 3 blocks from home and that was a little too much I could have never traveled and stood. I still get exhausted after 7.5 hour work day.
Be careful so you don't end up with repair surgery that will set you back even further.
Good luck and ***HUGS***

If you feel like you may be over doing it then chances are you are over doing it. It takes time to heal. You cant rush that. If you are able to take more time off I would consider it. I went back at 7 weeks and it still was a challeng.

Re: post-op 20 days, working

I was back at work 3 weeks after - I traveled interstate for a week - it was a desk job tho. I was back at my normal retail job on week 4. Mind you - I have been good - no lifting. Not had a problem at all! Each person is different.

i listened to my body and took another 10 days off.
