Unicornuate Uterus/Endo

The doctors are now telling me that my only option is a hysterectomy. I have endometriosis and a unicornuate uterus (a birth defect where only half of my uterus formed in utero). Does anyone else here have this? I always wanted children, but the RE says that my odds of a successful pregnancy are very low.

I've tried Lupron (which was great), bc (it makes me depressed), Danazol (couldn't tolerate the side effects), and I had a lap in March of 2010. I have small endo adhesions throughout my pelvis. I have lived with pelvic pain since I was a teenager. The doctors (I've seen many) all tell me that they don't know why my pain level is so high.

Has anyone else here had a hysterectomy with a unicornuate uterus? Did you feel better afterwards? I'd feel much better having a hyst if I knew it would help with the pain, but no one seems to have any answers.

I've been off Lupron for a month now, and it has been miserable. I've been exhausted beyond belief and the pain is back. It's better, but still very much interferes with my life. Help?! Anyone?

Re: Unicornuate Uterus/Endo

Though I can't help with the unicornuate uterus issue, I am pretty sure we have had other members with a unicornuate uterus. Thus, you could do a site search to read their threads.

As far as endometriosis, I would strongly recommend you find an endometriosis specialist. The most successful treatment option for endometriosis is the skillful excision of the implants. It is not removal of our reproductive organs, hormones, or other meds.

You might want to read through our Endometriosis Information page where you will find links to our endo articles and support forum.

BTW, the amount of endometriosis in no way correlates with pain levels. Women with flecks of endometriosis can have excruciating pain while those with extensive endometriosis may even be pain free.
