Is this a stupid question?

I'm new here and to the idea of a hysterectomy. Been having severe pains during ovulation and periods. At times they are so bad I thought of death. Had lapro. surgery 5 years ago, but not much help. Pains came back with a vengeance. Was put on birth control pills for 3 months, but caused me more problems and was taken off them. Now we are discussing hysterectomy, total I hope. I have had 3 ultra sounds and have another planned for wed next week to see what all needs to come out. My dr has an OR date open on 9/10 so we are shooting for that date to do surgery. Decided to give you all the whole story since I'm new. My question is, what are all the abbreviations I see on this website. Thought maybe there was a forum for them somewhere but couldn't find it. Maybe it is abbreviated as well. lol Here is an example:TAH already forgotten the rest, hope this all makes sense. Thanks Dawn

answered my own question

I found it! I now know where to find what all the abbreviations mean. Now I just need to copy and print them for future reference so when I read other posts, I'll know what they are talking about.

Is this a stupid question?

Hi Dawn and WELCOME!!!

This first rule of HysterSisters is that no question is a stupid one! We were all new to the site at one time - and yes those abbreviations can be confusing.

Go to the site home page and scroll down a bit. On the left side you'll see lots of big word (Message Boards, Calendar that are links to different parts of the site) and if you keep scrolling down, you'll see some smaller letters that are links. One of those is Frequently Used Abbreviations. Click on the link and it will take you to a page that should help.

Best wishes with your upcoming surgery! So glad you found us!

Hugs,

Thanks for the welcome.

And the answers to my question. Once I was able to find where they were located I was shocked to see that there were so many. lol

I am just alittle anxious but totally ready and waiting. The pain has put such a damper on my life, so I'm ready to live again. My favorite Bible verses are: Philippians 4:6-7 6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your mind in Christ Jesus. And then theres always Isiah 40:31.
