LAVH Almost 2 was post op..more bleeding now

Hi ladies, hope today finds you all improving well. I have to say I'm a wee bit concerned re my recovery. Here I am 12 days post op..went to Walmart yest..my first outing ..and almost did me in! I honestly thought the LAVH vs TAH would have resulted in a quicker and easier recovery. As a nurse in the community, incisional discomfort is my pts primary complaint..I have 3 lap incisions so what the heck!! No bleeding for first nine days then..yuck..and these pads leave me feeling unclean, despite the cleansing cloths. Passing clots and sooo weak and tired! Certainly not soaking a pad hourly,simplest chore like wiping down the counters sucks the life out of me! Sorry to ramble and whine, no one at home can relate, and I don't want to constantly complain, I just so anticipated feeling better by now

At 3 weeks out was when I started to spot and feel worse than I did the days after. Be patient, rest a lot things will get better.

I had a LAVH and it took me every bit of the six weeks to feel like I could do things without getting exhausted. Remember, just because you have 3 tiny incisions outside, you insides look almost exactly like those of someone who had a TAH. It isn't the incisions that take you down. A hysterectomy is a tough surgery. I think by 3 months I was feeling almost normal, but at 6 months I felt even better. Now that it's been over a year, I realize I feel better than I did 6 months ago. This surgery is different from most other surgeries. I've had several, and the only one that can come close to comparing is a multi-level lumbar fusion, and that didn't have the emotional components.

Thank you Elsie..today is day 13.. And luckily I'm not too superstitious! Hopefully today will show some improvement, but I do realize that I may be a wee bit impatient. My goal today..shower..perhaps wear something other than pajamas and attempt to prepare dinner for my hubby..baby steps...

I wore pj's for 3 weeks straight. I was proud of myself for wiping down counters and heating a TV dinner!
