Re: Insensitive Doctor Office (pregnancy mentioned)

It's really hard to wait, especially when you're not feeling well... We can all relate to that.

I always bring my knitting with me everywhere I go. That way I can get "lost" in my project and I don't pay nearly as much attention to what is going on around me. Others I see with books, or needlepoint, or whatever.

The endless "hurry up and wait" is very difficult, and it can be very difficult to be a "patient" patient.... Just recently, I almost walked out on an ortho guy because I waited (in an examination room, no less) for 50 minutes! I felt like they could have at least poked a head in the room and said, "Sorry we're running so far behind!" But there I sat. And that was just for a follow-up appointment -- I can only imagine how you felt, being very anxious about upcoming surgery.

I hope they aren't doing this to all of their patients, but I think it would be worth mentioning it to them -- if for no other reason than doing so would mean you let them know what was on your mind. They can't change if you don't let them know it bothers you.

When I was having IVF, the IVF doctor's office was next door to an abortion clinic. They had a common waiting room for all the patients seeing doctors on that floor. It was upsetting.

Wow. I am speechless. That is wrong on so many levels. Common sense must have been on a holiday when they decided that was an acceptable idea.
