5 weeks, 1 ovary left and hot flashes

Just this week I have been hit with "hot flashes" big time....wiping sweat from my face, wanting to open all the windows in the house when it's 40-50 degrees after dark....ugh. I had one ovary removed, one left. Do they stop working for a period after hyst, or can they sometimes just shut down on their own? I'm thinking this is just a temporary thing....I'm NOT one to just suddenly get hot...... this is new to me.

I do have a dr. appt on the 18th, and blood tests this month. Not sure if they do, or should, check hormone levels....but I'm wondering if, in the "transition" after hysterectomy, this is still normal.

The headaches.....jeez....the headaches....still get them pretty regularly, but not as bad as they were immediately after my LAVH.

Thanks!
Angie

Oh...and if it matters, I am 31 years old.

Sounds like your ovary is still asleep..Mine took a couple of months to wake up.. The first hot flash kinda scared me, then since it was so cold and snowy outside, I wanted them to come. ;-) Make sure you mention it to your doctor.. He might want to give you something to wake your ovary up.. My doctor told me to just want and see and I did. Everything is fine. take care.

Angie,
You've been visited by the Hotflash Demons. Yes they are evil little critters. I know them well. They visit me constantly lately and I kept both ovaries. I'm 7 weeks post op and my visits started at day 5. I think my ovaries are on vacation to Cancun or some other fun place with the hormone fairy and she best come back soon. I'm about to go nuts.
My doc said ovaries go into shock (take a vacation) after surgery and usually wake up within a few months. But sometimes the blood supply is damaged and they don't wake up ever. Mine best return soon. I'm losing my mind. I hate having sweaty armpits all the time. YUCK! Its hard to feel lady like when you're sweating like a pig. And you can't even predict when it will hit either. It would be better if it was cold outside. Its in the 90's here in south Texas and hotter then hades outside. Just what I need, more heat. And I get to carry that heat around with me everywhere. Oh joy! AARRGG!!!!
Hang in there Angie. Hopefully your ovaries will wake up soon and the demons will vacate. Just don't send them my way please. I have enough of them. I think they're multiplying daily. Good luck.
