help my hair is falling out!!!

my hair has been coming out in handfulls. anyone else have this problem?

Yes!!! I am hopeing the hormones will help stop it.
Are you on HRT?? I think the change in hormones is what causes this.

Have you had your thyroid checked? I had the same problem and my thyroid was the cause.

my doctor didnt think i needed hrt since i only lost one ovary. i have really short hair and i am noticing bald spots now! its terrible. i cried last night i had taken a bath and i rinsed my hair and a big glob of it was floating in the water. do u think loosing just one ovary will cause it? sould i ask my doc about hrt?

havent had that cheked that might be an idea thanks

Checking with your doc is a GOOD idea, because us ladies losing our hair is a sign of something not working quite right at the moment. Might as well check into it quickly so you can have it fixed with a minimum of fuss.

i will unfortunately my docs office is closed on fridays it annoys me to no end. ill have to wait until monday. thanks

hi mine was falling oyt reallyt bad up until a few days ago when it seems to be slowing down. Dr. reckons it is just post op stress and to give the body, and hormones time to adjust. Hope he's right as it was thin to star with. Hope yours stops soon.

Hiya My hair has also been packing it's bags and bidding me farewell I checked out 'hair loss' on the search engine here and had a look to see what the 'experts' (ie fellow sisters) had to say. The general thoughts were that it has something to do with the anaesthetic and narcotics given afterwards. My hair loss has slowed a little, so fingers crossed
I'd recommend you have a looksie on the search. There's a number of different threads that appear, so look for the 'post-op hysterectomy' ones. Hopes this helps

I have also heard that anesthesia can cause hair loss. Then when you add the stress from surgery, the change in hormones, etc, it is a wonder we are not all bald!
