orgasms after hysterectomy- the same?

I am far from being cleared to have sex, but I was wondering if orgasms after a hysterectomy is the same or different? Im so afraid it wont the same.....

I am going on 9wks post op. I was cleared at 6 but waited another week.
So far my DH and I have been intimate 3 times. Every time I was able to have a O, but it did seem to feel a bit different. It did not feel as strong as I am used to experiencing it.
The first time I was really tense. It had been so long before and after surgery, it took a lot out of me emotionally.
The second time I was stressing over other issues. I have been keeping that in mind and not thinking that my sex life was going to be different based on first two experiences.
The third time I was more relaxed and it felt closer to what I was used to feeling before surgery. Sorry if TMI here, but I was able to have several Os the third time, which I am also used to experiencing.
Again with the TMI, but I have also self pleasured several times and that seems to be helping as well.
I am just keeping in mind it just might take a while to get back into things, but I am not giving up. Overall it seems to be getting better.

I think masturbation/vibrators are helpful recovery tools. Many women say everything's the same for them. I can't say that.

But my orgasms changed pretty dramatically about two years ago. I'm not sure if that was due to perimenopause (less estrogen) or fibroids. I stopped having orgasms in the same way - I stopped having orgasms that included pleasurable uterine contractions.

While that was annoying, I started having orgasms more rapidly, which was pretty interesting. So this change was not all bad.

Currently, I'm still in the relearning stage. I'm having some mild pain on entry, but that goes away and I feel good. I haven't had what I would think of as an orgasm, but about an hour after intercourse, I have good feelings, especially around the vaginal seam/cervical cuff, that can last for a while.

So I'd say if there are initial problems, try not to panic. If you have severe pain or major bleeding, talk to your doctor right away. Otherwise, look at it like you're recovering from any injury. Be patient. Exercise.

My orgasms have been better post hyster. In fact the intensity has scared me at times as I didn't know it was even possible . That may be because before I would have pain upon orgasm from my pesky fibroids. The orgasm wasn't painful but my dh had to stop moving immediately or it would be painful for me. So for me the O's have been great. Right now I'm having a libido issue due to my hormones but when I do orgasm it is waaayyy better than it was. Hope that helps!!

For me things did change, but for the better. I hardly ever made it to the big "o" before my hyst, but now get one almost every time, sometimes more than once.

I don't know why, but for me it is just better. Better than ever. My dh is one happy camper too. :-)

Self pleasure/vibrators etc. How long did you wait for that?
Im alittle over 4 weeks post op. My dr did tell me a couple weeks ago that high school petting was allowed just "nothing in the vagina". So if we were to do some of that, and I did feel ready for dh or even myself to touch any of that area, would 4 - 5 weeks be to soon to try say for a clitorial orgasm?
I just wonder about the tensing up of the muscles.

A little external stimulation seems fine. Frankly, I was relieved to find out about three weeks out that my clitoris was still very responsive. So that's fine.

A few weeks out, you might start to have erotic dreams.

I had my two week follow up last week, the Dr said anything sexual without insertion was fine.

My cervix remains - dr. said helps with pelvic support and orgasms - and I absolutely agree with her and "Love the Ocean" above.

Thinks O's are better than before!!! :-)
