What does "20 week sized" mean?

My Dr.said I have an at least 20 week size mass. Does that mean it's been there for 20 weeks? This was back in January so does that mean it's now 32 weeks? Sorry for sounding dumb but I have never had to deal with this sort of thing before.

It means your uterus is the size of a 20-weeks pregnancy.

I had a fibroid the size of a 16 week pregnancy. Not sure if that is the same mass he is referring to, but it is about how big your uterus gets.

It's an ovarian mass that's squishing my uterus and bladder. So probably means the mass is the size of a 20 week pregnancy? Thanks for the answer. This whole ordeal has me more confused than I have ever felt in my life.

Re: What does "20 week sized" mean?

Do you know what kind of hysterectomy you are having?

Yeah, I was surprised my fibroid was so big. Had to have a TAH to remove everything.

Start a list of questions for your doctor to ask at your pre-op apt. That'll make you feel better to have as much info as possible.

Dr. said she was going to try starting with laparoscopy but more than likely it will be abdominal because of the size. So that's what I'm prepping for. They'll send the ovaries out for testing while I'm under and then stage if its cancer. I'm having surgery on the 27th. This site is great for info!
