Enlarged Uterus

I had a lap last Monday and go for results in another week. They had the room booked for an hour and a half and within 15min closed me up again. She found one spot of endo on L Ovary and zapped it and I believe a little cyst and then she said that ovary was 1 1/2x's its normal size (I may have been ovulating) What is normal size? Big thing is my uterus is "HUGE" its discolored and looked kinda marblized. She told all this to my hubby and showed him pictures. She said that it looked unhealthy and she suggested that at some point she strongly recommends a hysterectomy. She wanted to try progesterone for a couple months to show ins. that we were doing everything possible and then she recommends a hyster.

I guess I am for it. Periods can be very painful. (Typically 3wks of pain 3-4 days of flow) I am tired of that . But I can't help wondering if the ins. will see this as grounds. I should start my period around the 20th so we'll see if it is any better. The worst thing I have noticed is the pressure in my stomach - like I was 5-6 mon. prego. The evenings are the worst I can't eat because I already feel like I just ate the best Thanksgiving dinner, yet I haven't had a bite. It makes me sick and I usually have dry heaves in the evening. This was beginning to be the norm before surgery and is worse since. She suggested it may be gall bladder and she would check it, but haven't heard results...it even hurts where uterus attaches on at the top. I look like Homer with a dunlap hanging out of my pants because I can't stand a waist band. Real attractive!

I just wondered if anyone else had surgery because of enlarged uterus? I have been on BCP off and on for 15 years and I don't want to go that route anymore. I just hate to get all psyched up for a hysterectomy and then have the rug yanked. I am 35 with two kids (4 & 5)and just tired of being a girl!!!

My only symptons are enlarged uterus and 17cm fibroid with others. No excessive bleeding and my blood is good too.

Enlarged Uterus

Additional Info: I'm going through stories of people and I'm reading they have fybroids and other misc. stuff and I ain't got any of that!!! Just an enlarged uterus - now I am not complaining I don't need any of those other things, but it just seems odd. I've had pain with my period since I was 13 (put on BCP at 16) and since my sons birth it has gotten dramatically worse, but I can't even complain about heavy bleeding. I guess I am just looking for a name to look up on the internet and someone to tell me why its not healthy.

When my son was born he was 9.2 # and they were afraid he might have ripped the uterus - they pulled alot of it out of my body examined it and put it back. I can't help but wonder if somehow they damaged it. . .I don''t know maybe it never shrunk up after he was born. . . I don't know...

It's a bit shocking when you first hear the word hysterectomy, isn't it? Hopefully your DR will have more info for you when you go back for your follow-up visit. Many women seem to have enlarged uterus due to adenomyosis or fibroids.

Don't be afraid to ask your doctor lots of questions. That's why they get the big bucks. Good luck.

Have they told you how enlarged your uterus is?

The 17th I'm having a TAH/BSO for an enlarged uterus as well.

A little over a year ago, my uterus was at 12.5cm....right now it is 14.6cm. The average size uterus is 5-8cm. I have the same pelvice pain you mentions.....seems like I only have 8-10 good days a month. I don't have any fibroids or endometriosis either. The doctor believes I have a benign condition called Adenomyosis. It cause a enlarged, soft, boggy uterus....which causes all of our symptoms.....believe me, it is a very good reason to have a hysterectomy! There are times of the month when I'm not on my period that the pressure is killer! Swollen abdomen, tenderness.....sometimes I have to hold my side when I walk to keep my insides from "shaking" too much!

You'll enjoy reading about it on this message board....I know I have! It's so comforting to know that so many others know exactly what you're going through and that you're not imagining it or just be a baby about things!

Enlarged Uterus

I am due to have a TVH on April 5 because of MANY things. An enlarged Uterus is just one of them.Mine is or should I say was 14 cm at my Ultrasound on Dec.30.
The Dr now says I have Uterine Prolapse and that explans some of the pain and pressure that I feel now.
Good luck.I pray you find that answers that you seek.
