Less than 24 hours post-op hysterectomy

I just wanted to to introduce myself. (I just joined the group 2 days ago)

I'm Rachel and I'm 33, married and a mother of two (Jacob is 11 & Abby is 9) I had previously had the left ovary and left tube removed due to cysts, pain and they basically were necrotic when the doc got in there and my ovary and tube were contorted (I think that's the name for twisted lol)

5 years later, And every period getting worse and worse (pain, length and clotting) and the constant dull aches and sharp pains between my periods, I finally decided enough was enough.

Surgery was done yesterday......I'm about 12 hours post-op right now. I've already completed all my 'tasks' to go home, and it's amazing how good I feel. I have a little but if incision pain and nerve twinges near the sites, but other than I feel great. I have about 8 more hours and I get to go home.

I'm very grateful that I joined this site. I had read lots of posts prior to the surgery and just knowing that I'm not alone is an awesome thing!

Rachel on a successful surgery!! I'm happy to hear that you feel good. Better quality of life, here you come

When you get home, make sure to take your meds as scheduled, drink plenty of water, walk a little each hour that you are not resting and listen to your body. Most importantly, rest, rest, rest.

I wish you a successful recovery.

Re: Less than 24 hours post-op hysterectomy

Hi Rachel,

For me, the silver lining in this cloud was finding this website. I had 7 days between diagnosis and surgery, I was freaked and clueless, and the ladies here led me through it, every step of the way. Without this support I don't know if I would have been able to cope.

I'm glad your surgery went well and I hope that you have a smooth recovery. Make sure you do everything the doctor tells you!! Take care, Lisa xxx
