2 days post hysterectomy: Question about bleeding and gas.

How long is bleeding normal after a vaginal hysterectomy? And how can I relieve some of this natural gas from my bowels starting to work again?

I can't answer the question about how logon the bleeding will last but I can answer the question about the gas. Have you tried Gas-X?

I had a vaginal hysterectomy Jan 22 I bled for 8 to 10 days afterwards but everyone is different as far as the gas you can use gas x and if you haven't gone number 2 yet then try to that will help some with the gas as well and I slept with a body pillow between my legs on my side that helped also good luck

Regular exercise stimulates the muscular contractions that move stuff through your intestinal tract, so make sure you're getting in those daily walks. Peppermint tea and fennel seeds can also help to move the gas out, plus be sure to avoid gassy foods; that includes legumes, onions and garlic, cabbage and its relatives, cucumbers, melons, pears, and artificial sweeteners. For constipation, in addition to walking and peppermint tea, try supplementing your diet with magnesium, which promotes proper bowel function; food sources include leafy greens, whole grains, nuts and seeds, and dark chocolate. Try making a smoothie with almond milk, cherries, spinach, and ground flaxseeds; that's what ultimately worked for me. Best wishes for your continued recovery!
