Bleeding on day 14 post hysterectomy!!! What's Normal?

Just started bleeding day 14 post op, I've been cramping and spotting but now it has gotten heavier with bright red blood. What's normal? My Dr did a pelvic on day 12 post op and it's been crapy ever since.

Rule of thumb, if you bleed thru more than a pad a hour, call your doctor. I didn't have any blood the first two weeks and then started spotting from two weeks clear thru eleven weeks. Never was heavy but always had to wear a panty liner. Good luck and hope you at doing better!

Re: Bleeding on day 14 post op!!! What's Normal?

I bled bright red blood and passed some clots 3 weeks post op. My advice would be to go back to your doctor and let them check you out. Try not to worry - my bleeding was due to a haematoma just above the vaginal cuff (I had an ultrasound scan to verify this), a granulation (which they successfully treated with silver nitrate - not painful) and an infection (coliform - given 2 antibiotics over 1 week which seems to have worked). My bleeding wasn't too heavy (lasted about 2 weeks) but really concerned me at the time. Don't ignore your bleeding as there is usually a cause which can be treated. Good luck sunshine x
