9 days post hysterectomy: Overdoing it??

I am having a rough day today. Its day 9. I am having my husband get mea binder. I think I did too much and had a lot of pulling discomfort in lower pelvic region. Anyone one thru this? I am 50 yrs old. Had a LTVH- so everything taken- including 1 Lg and 1 sm ovarian cyst. My belly feels swollen again. Pain pills helped pain though. I wish there was a protocol to follow

Re: Overdoing it??

Did your dr give you a list of restricted activities? You don't say what you were overdoing? If it was just walking more than normal or something on that order, a little rest should fix the discomfort, and you'll know to do a little less next time. If you did something that was restricted, it might not be a bad idea to check in with your dr just to be sure all is well.

Re: Overdoing it??

You are right. All i was given was no lifting over 10# first wk- nothing over 15# for up to 6 Wks.sheet says further restrictions were to be given upon dc. - all i got was take very easy- no driving, pain control, walk and lots of water. I guess that was to be the extent of my activity level until I saw dr again. I was supposed to be given more upon leaving hospital - they didn't expand though. i will call my Drs office tomorrow. I'm the type of person who really needs a detailed list of Dos and Donts. Thank you for your reply though.

Re: Overdoing it??

I think we may have some resources to help you. These are some of my favorite resources for the early weeks:Our PDF booklet "What 350,000 Women Know..." became my recovery guide. It's free, just click on the link to get to the download page.

Finally, I think you'd benefit from your Recovery Thread at Recovery Progress Reports for Sept 11-17. Recovery Threads are dedicated threads for women who had surgery the same week as you. They are wonderful for getting support, comparing notes, and encouraging others.

Incidentally, swelly belly is what brought me to this site, and I never left!
