I start my family off with blueberries muffins. Then I make a time chart for the food I will be making. I put together a goody platter for my family as they wait for the dinner. When the dinner is ready, we all hold hands and say what we are grateful for.

Our tradition was to try to find any way to cook a turkey, not in the oven. So my oven would be free for everything else! We have done hot oil, smoking, BBQ and roaster. Now I have a second oven like I remember my grandma always had in her basement. But, I am off Thanksgiving duty this year, so I will just sit back and enjoy my family!

We go to my mil house. Usually I'm responsible for the pies and I make a sweet potatoe dish. I have brought my moms cranberry salad too. It is the one holiday we celebrate as a family. I usually go bf sales however this year I don't think I am because of the hyster. Oh well will maybe do some online.

This thanksgiving i will be finally able to do make the dinner. I will be making ham, mashed potatoes, green beans, homemade apple pie. I m so happy that i feel good enough to stand and cook. The surgery has changed my life. I am much happier.

We have a crazy mixed up family, so I don't know whose house or houses we will end up at every year, but I always make sure that I see my loved ones no matter whose house we end up at! The best part is making some of my signature dishes and getting to watch family members faces light up when they bite into something really delicious that I have made for them!!!!

Every day begining November 1st, at supper time, we all say one thing we are thankful for. It is nice to get the feedback from our teenagers, and some of the things the adults are thankful for is just amazing to hear. It is a good way for us not to forget all we have to be thankful for instead of always focusing on the negative.

This year my niece will be hosting Thanksgiving in her new home. I come from a family of 6 kids and 4 of us still live near our hometown. There are now 15 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Usually the person hosting the dinner makes the turkey, and the rest of us fill in the gaps with side dishes and desserts. My husband has a very small family, and they are always invited, too. That is one thing I love about my family, our respective in laws are always welcome, so cousins are able to celebrate with both sets of grandparents when they're able to make it.
After dinner is finished, the table is cleared, dessert and coffee is put out, and a very loud game of cards is started. Sometimes the grand kids play, other times they go off into another room and just hang out together.
At the end of the evening, phone calls are made to siblings and their children that are out of state. The phone gets passed around and even my brother that lives out of the country gets to say hello to the whole family in one call!
