Just kind of curious...
Has anyone had fingernail and cuticle problems since surgery? My nails are so thin and brittle and some are cracked halfway down the nail and my cuticles are bleeding. I don't normally have these problems so I thought maybe it was one of the many side effects of the surgery. I know it's a minor annoyance but I was just curious if anyone else had the same problem. Thanks for any info!

Hi MJ , Yes absolutely. I had that problem for about 3 months. And although my nails are thin, they grow like anything. So I was a little concerned when they just sorta stopped. Just shows you how your body is trying to conserve all it can to heal. It's ok. Don't worry.

Feelinggreat,
Yep I've got that same problem too plus dry skin and coarse hair, which was always oily before. It may be linked to the thyroid issue my doc found post op.
I agree with Shera about the extra pampering. Nails & cuticles need oil too. Why not treat yourself everyday with nail oil and hand cream for a few weeks. It's really rather relaxing. You can purchase those white gloves so that you don't get oil or cream all over everything in the house. The gloves are cotton and washable with the added bonus that they keep your hands protected. If you have the energy why not pamper the toes too? If you need some product ideas, send me a PM
(I used to do volunteer nail care in a nursing home).

Hi Yes I had that problem, mine started to split but they went really soft and when i washed my hands i washed with a moisturising hand wash called Dettol, and they then went sticky. I decided then to cut them off and just moisturise every night and grow them when i am better.
Best Regards
