What is that all about
Less then 30 days to go and so I have been reading the other posts to get all the info I can. IN some of these the new princesses mention packing that hurt after their surgery. I am having a tvh and so I am wondering will I also have this? What exactly is it? My doctor mentioned having a cathetor until the next morning but nothing about this. Please ease my mind that it isn't going to be all that horrible.

Hi! I had a LAVH/BSO 1 week ago TODAY!! I did not have any vaginally packing and my cathetor was taken out before I even got back to my room after surgery...never knew I had one in! I am not sure what the packing is for, but I didn't have any! I had a little bleeding the first day, but no discharge or bleeding after that! Best of luck on your upcoming surgery...waiting really is the hardest part!

What is that all about
Hi, MJM93,
I haven't heard that vaginal packing is ever used with a LAVH.
Some doctors tightly pack the vagina with gauze, after a TVH, to control bleeding. I had a TVH/BSO, and my doctor didn't use vaginal packing. Ask your doctor about this, so you'll know whether to expect to have vaginal packing.
The packing is usually removed the morning after the surgery. I've read here that the ladies whose doctors used vaginal packing did find it to be uncomfortable, and they were more comfortable after it was removed.
I hope this helps.
Best wishes,
Helen

What is that all about
Hi
I had my tvh on April 4 and I did have packing but didn't even feel it, and had no problem with the packing. I only had it in until the following morning and I also had a catheter as well and I had no problems or pain related to either one. Hope this helps in some way.

Courtlyn, my experience was just like Paula's (Lucy2). I never knew I had the packing in until they came in to remove it.
It wasn't a big deal. You'll do great!

Hi Courtlyn,
Welcome to Hystersisters!!
I did have the packing with my TVH, and while it was a little uncomfortable, it wasn't painful. I agree with Paula - it was the longest tampon in the world - it just kept on coming out and coming out and coming out - I wondered how in the world they could get that much gauze up inside of anyone!!
But it's not painful - just a little uncomfortable - be sure to ask your doctor if he normally does it for TVH's.

What is that all about
I had a TVH and I had the packing and the cath
neather one was bad matter of a fact I didn't even know I had eather one of them till the doctor removed the packing the next day
not to be gross or graphic but I never used tampons with my monthly I hadn't for over 15 years so I was not use to having any thing in there
and the packing didn't even bother me when it was removed
I hope this helps to ease your mind

What is that all about
Hi: One and a half weeks ago I had a TVH and I feel good. Little twinges here and there if I am up and walking around too much, but other wise feel great, nothing 800 mg Motrin doesnt cure. I didnt have any packing but I did have the catheter. The catheter is uncomfortable, but not excruitiating. It really isnt all that bad, so try not to worry. Just think, NO MORE PERIODS!!!
