The waiting is the worst part. Don't see what type of surgery you are having. If you add it you will probably get more replies from those with like surgeries.
Just wanted to say that .....I only dream of someone asking me to gain weight. If they did this is what I would do...every night right before I went to bed I would have a double chocolate malt, french fries and a double burger followed by a large peice of buttermilk pie. That is probably not the smart thing to do so maybe some weight lifting, protein shakes and pasta would help.
Good luck and welcome!

pre-op surgery
I'm having my remaining cervix, uterus, fallopian tubes, and both ovaries taken out due to severe dysplasia cin III. My husband has crammed so much food down my throat for the last six week's the thought of food makes me sick to my stomach, and yes the milk shakes before bed too!!!! I'm really having a hard time dealing with the fact of no more children, right now all my friens and my two sisters are all expecting. It is very emotional for me to talk about this with any of them. Little Trish

(((little trish)))
This must be so hard for you.
I'm a fluffier sister, so I also have dreams of being told to put on a few pounds .
Having said that, however -- I really do understand your dilemma. I know this is much easier said than done, but try not to worry about your weight. Just eat normally. Don't try to gain, don't try to lose. At this point your weight won't fluctuate to make any impact one way or another, anyway.
And I'm so sorry about your sadness surrounding not being able to have more children. I knew my family was complete -- in fact, I had a tubal ligation after the last one was born -- and I still had twinges about losing that ability to bear a child. I just had to realize I was doing something to help my quality of life so I could really "be there" for my family in the future. That helped me get through it all.
Best of luck to you! I hope things go well.

having surgery on Jan. 24, 2005 Very nervous
Hey Little Trish-
I am having a TAH on Jan 19 and was EXTREMELY nervous and scared last week. This week I had a cancer scare and when I found out the biopsy results were negative just a plain old TAH didn't seem as scary.
I am still a bit worried about the operation. I am scared about being cut open and how I will respond to the pain and recovery. I am doing everything I can to prepare myself.
I scheduled a consulting appointment with my doctor and wrote out over 50 questions for her. After spending an hour with her patiently going over everything, I felt much calmer and better about the operation.
I also bought myself a couple of things on the hystersister store website and a fluffy little pillow to ease my incision. On my preop appointment day I am going to get a pedicure and really pamper myself.
I'm feeling so much better this week. After finding this site, I was so comforted by everyone's posts. I hope this helps. I'll be thinking of you as the week progresses.
