6 week post hysterectomy pain, discharge

Hi all I am almost 6 weeks post op from lavh, kept both ovaries. Last night I started having pain, feels like my insides are pushing down and cramping. Also when I wiped there was something on my tissue paper-beige/tan gooey with a darker spot, (only this one time) is this normal? Today I'm laying low but still lots of cramping and just over all feeling icky. I feel like I should be farther in this recovery process, I'm scheduled to go back to work this Thursday if the dr releases me but I'm in so much discomfort. ...any advice would be great! Thank you all!

Re: 6 week post op pain, discharge

It's hard to be patient once we start to feel better but we do have to realize that the actual internal healing takes much longer than 6 weeks. What you're feeling and experiencing could be stitches still dissolving, if you have a vaginal cuff that is. I know I experience the same thing at about 8 weeks and ended up back at Dr office. I was told I had one stitch left way up and way over on the left side that was just kind of hanging on. I was also told the stitches my Dr uses for this surgery are expected to last between 90-180 days! Hearing that really surprised me. I was told after my experience to take it easy another two weeks, which was up last week, and I am just now getting to my normal pre surgery activities.

With all that being said, when in doubt call your Dr office and see what they think.

Re: 6 week post op pain, discharge

This recovery certainly has its ups & backs.. Did you by chance retain your cervix? If so, it could be a mIni period..If you over did it, then crampi g, spotting, fatigue, swelling, aches & pains can occur..Ice fir swelling ir heat pad for pains. Keep the GI system moving otherwise constipation can cause pains. To ease your mind, call your Dr or the nurse.
